VJKK VJKF I am trying to understand the Gurmat Sidhaant from this Vaar by Bhai Gurdas Ji, where Bhai Sahib gives the example of a goat. Can someone explain it to me? ਹਸਤਿ ਅਖਾਜੁ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਸੀਹੁ ਸਤਾਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਖਾਈ। The proud elephant is inedible and none eats the mighty lion. ਹਾਥੀ (ਦਾ ਮਾਸ) ਅਪਵਿੱby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VJKKVJKF Charanjeet Singh, In reality even the majority of people who listen to Shastriya Sangeet don't have knowledge of Raags, and only after a lot of listening is one able to differentiate between Raags, usually by recognising the common phrases (chalans) which are unique to each Raag. The point being one doesn't have to understand Raags to appreciate them and when it comes to Gurmat Sangeeby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Thank you Bhai Sahib. For some months now I've come across many people discussing various diets - what not to eat, when to eat, what combinations to eat, avoid this food group etc. some based on aryuvedic principles, some on new 'research results', some on latest fads, and some just completely made up. I then came across this article in Atam Science magazine and, like you've said, was completby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

The three pillars of Sikhi are often defined as: 1) Kirat Karni 2) Vand ke Shakna 3) Naam Japna At a young age Guru Nanak Dev Ji was given money by his father to go to the market and make a profit. On the way to the market, Guru Sahib saw some hungry Sadhus and said that there was no greater profit to be made than by feeding the poor and hungry Sadhus. The above brief points can be interby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VJKK VJKF Thanks Bijla Singh for uploading the article. @ 'Sinner', I don't believe there is a current Western system which correctly emulates 100% of Gurmat thought and philosophy. Saying that, it is clear to me that a Gurmat social and political system would be anti-capitalist, and socialist in nature; essentially "Sikh Socialism."by Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VJKK VJKF Your best bet would be to go through a steek of Sri Jaap Sahib. I'd recommend the Punjabi Steek by Prof. Sahib Singh which you can download from here: Sri Jaap Sahib Steek, Prof.Sahib Singh (Sikhbookclub) Regarding the language of Sri Jaap Sahib you have to remember that many of the words are Sanskrit words which can have multiple meanings, as well as Arabic and Farsi words. VJKK VJKF, Karam-Naam refers to the names of Akaal Purukh given as per his actions; ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ । These Karam Naam's form the basis of Sri Jaap Sahib. VJKK VJKF, This has been discussed quite a few times, and I'm sure there's a writeup by Bhai Kulbir Singh somewhere on the site. Giani Gurdit Singh has done a detailed study on the Bhagats in his book, "Ithihas Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji : Bhagat Bani Bhag" (Punjabi). VJKK VJKF, I read the following Svaal-Javaab (Question-Answer) in Atam Science Magazine, which I found applicable to me. If anyone has any more thoughts on it, please share. VJKK VJKF, The maryada of giving gurti to a new born has always been practiced in my family, however, due to ignorance I have seen many variations on this practice. In our family, we look for a Gursikh family member/family friend to prepare the gurti. The variation that most coby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VJKK VJKF Bhai Sukhdeep Singh Jio, I think maybe Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara has kept the Aunkad there preferring a Panthic agreement to change the Gurbani rather than an individual response, and hence his section on possible corrections at the end of his Nitnem steek. VJKK VJKF, This is the first Ang from Sri Guru Granth Sahib, written in Shahmukhi script (obtained from Punjab Digital Library). As you would expect, the first two lines at the top are the Mool Mantar, from Ik Oankaar to Gurprasad. Below that in the centre is the word "Jap" signalling the beginning of Sri Japji Sahib.
