Excellent idea Bhai Sukhdeep Singh, it's been something I've been contemplating myself. There are many excellent books on Gurmat which have gone out of print. I've been thinking of starting a small non-profit publishing house to not only print these OOP books, but to also have translations made in multiple languages. I was recently disturbed to find that the SGPC had printed a book on Sikh Hiby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VJKK VJKF, I believe the first book published on Gurbani Grammar was Prof. Teja Singh's, "ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂਤਕ ਲਗਾਂ ਮਾਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੁੱਝੇ ਭੇਦ" published 1922-23. I've just now found a copy of it on the Punjab Digital Library! Shabadatik Laga Matra De Gujje Bhed I'm afraid I don't know about Pt. As Bhai Kulbir Singh has also confirmed, the final Salok of Sri JapJi Sahib appears elsewhere under the Sirlekh of "Mahalla 2". As the final Salok is identical in both instances (as opposed to the two instances of the first Salok of Sri JapJi Sahib which are different in spelling - one in Sri JapJi Sahib and one in Sri Sukhmani Sahib), it can be concluded that it is written by Mahalla 2, i.e. Sriby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VJKK VJKF Bhai Sukhdeep Singh, I don't believe the state of Study in Sikh History is as dire as you may think, but I do agree that there needs to be more of a consensus amongst the Sangat. There is definitely, I feel, a disconnect between scholarly work and the general historical knowledge of the wider Sangat. Excellent infomative post, Bhai Sukhdeep Singh. To clarify and confirm regarding White Sugar: In processing Sugar the decolourising filter which gives the sugar cane its white colour is known as bone char / natural charcoal and is made of cattle bones. Brown Sugar is simply refined Sugar with Molasses added to give it a brown colour, and so has probably been processed via bone char. I belieby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VJKK VJKF, This was requested in one of the other posts on the forum. Here's a list of potential spelling mistakes in Nitnem Bania, highlighted by Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara at the end of his Nitnem Steek. It would be useful if the learned Gursikhs on the site go through each of the instances and justify the correct spelling, for the knowledge and benefit of all. VJKK VJKF, When I was taught Punjabi as a child, I was taught that the pronunciation of ਫ was a clear "f" sound. On some online "Learn Gurmukhi" videos, I have heard ਫ pronounced as a "ph" sound i.e. a softer version of ਪ, in line with the sound variations shown in the preceding lines, [ਕ-ਖ], [ਚ-ਛ], [ਟ-ਠ] and [ਤ-ਥ]. With ਫ as a "ph" sound, ਫ਼ then forms the distinct "fby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

As said by Bhenji Singhni, arguing about such petty things will not get you anywhere. In my humble opinion, if a Gursikh is selling things like Sarbloh Batay (or anything for that matter), then the Gursikh buyer should be glad to be helping them with their income. Why attach any more importance? You receive the goods, and help a Gursikh – double profit! If you are questioning, "Why doesnby Navroop Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
