Soha Ali Khan shoot of 1984 riots film disrupted in Ludhiana village

Tarsem Singh Deogan, Hindustan Times Ludhiana, May 19, 2014

First Published: 07:56 IST(19/5/2014) | Last Updated: 08:04 IST(19/5/2014)

Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan and the entire unit of her upcoming Hindi film “October 31” (tentative name) based on the 1984 riots were on May 16 harassed on the shooting location at Gungrana village, 27 km from here.

The filming was disrupted. Some of the locals even threatened to vandalise the set. Getting no security on account of the Lok Sabha election result day, the team completed its task the next day when the police protection was available.

Speaking for the makers, Divya of Magical Dream Productions said they had incurred a loss of 25 lakh because of the interruption.

The film, for which Shivaji Lotan Patil is directing the cast of Soha Ali Khan, Vir Das and Deep Raj Rana, is based on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The unit is in Punjab to shoot some of the scenes. A set of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk is raised at Gungrana, and fans are free to observe the actors from a distance.

“Some 250 people were filming the scenes on Friday when a few locals appeared and, for no reason, asked the crew to pack up,” said Divya. The film will be released in October.

Whereas we should be aware of Hindutavi's propoganda but this letterhead and matter tells me that it a fraudulent letter and part of any scam going on in India. Thugs are every where in this world, they connect their tricky stories to common events and scam innocent people.

In this world in India or outside India there is no one who help us for welfare for our kaum.
Only we have to get understand it and strictly follow rehat maryada given by Akal Takht.Only and only this can help us.
We should follow rehat maryada and urge others to follow it.Untill and unless there is majority in ourselves we can never gain anything.

Na Congress changi hai aur Na he BJP.
We have to move all alone.

Not that Modi does not have his past to answer to, BUT, Arundhati Roy was just a fashionable/socialite writer who luckily shot to limelight because one of her novels became hit. She is not a very good source for getting to know internal affairs of India. Just saying.

This is a photo of Narendra Modi disguised as a Sikh. When Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency in the 1970s, the RSS was banned and several of its leaders and activists were jailed. Mr. Modi disguised himself as a Skh to escape from the authorities.

India News: Suspect held in Ambala beadbi case.

The police claim to have arrested one person in connection with the 18 May 2014 incident of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Shalimar Bagh Gurdwara.

Deputy commissioner of police Surinder Pal Singh said the suspect has been taken into daylong police remand while 10 teams, headed by assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Hitesh Yadav, have been formed to nab another suspect who, he said, would be arrested soon.

The DCP said raids were being conducted at several places in Punjab and Haryana.

Meanwhile, representatives of several Sikh organisations, including Bhai Amrik Singh from Amritsar, Amarjit Singh of Damdami Taksal , SGPC member Harpal Singh Pali, Sant Singh Kandhari and others, held a meeting at Manji Sahib Gurdwara and gave an ultimatum to the administration that if the culprits were not arrested by May 28 an agitation would be launched the next day.

Earlier, the community had formed an 11-member action committee to put pressure on the administration for bringing the culprits to book.

They added that additional deputy commissioner Aurbind Sharma and senior police officers assured the gathering of strict action and appealed them to maintain calm.

Condemning the incident, in a statement, deputy commissioner Saket Kumar said the administration was serious regarding the matter and nobody will be allowed to hurt religious sentiments of any section of society.

In his complaint with the police on 18 May, Gurdwara Parbandhak committee president Manjit Singh had alleged that sewadar Gurpreet Singh had found the locks of the shrine broken and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and ‘gutakas’ missing and were later found in the bushes some distance from the Gurdwara.

If they did it out of hatred for sikhs sikhi then the word used should be 'fanatics' or something synonymous, 'racist' does not fit here, because even in Punjab Sikhi is not confined to one particular race, jats or others.

the scoundrels who did beadbi of Guru sahib swaroop should be punished justly. But what has Modi got to do with this heinous crime?
