I also like to read from an actual pothi/gutka than a tablet. Tablet is okay if you are outside. But if you are at home I think Pothi/Gutka should be used. It's just unfortunate that no one is publishing Lariwar Gutkas. We only have Nitnem Gutkas available which is not enough for people who want to read more bani in Larwar. It's hard to come by a Lariwar Sundar Gutka.by rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I personally like the way Saakhis are linked with Gurbani. Probably not all the Banis are linked to a Saakhi like Japji Sahib is being linked as a discussion with Guru Jee and the Siddhs. But we can't dismiss all the Gurbani related Sakhis. A lot of Gurbani must have been revealed to Guru Jee and the Bhagats during a particular event or Saakhi. Now in the case of Saman and Moosan, surely it mustby rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
GK jee, I think you have misinterpreted my post. I didn't say you are saying to follow the pope. I understood what you are saying. Francis ta bahut hi chhotta hai. We need to set our standards much higher. We need a leader who is so much more than pope Francis. People who show too much Nimrata for no reason are so annoying. What we need as Sikhs is a Mahapursh GurSikh to be the Jathedar of thby rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Only a Brahmgiani can go to Sachkhand. When someone claims they have gone to Sachkhand, they are indirectly saying they are Brahmgiani. Another way of seeing this is as Kulbir Singh Jee has mentioned that perhaps someone has gone to some lower spiritual destination which they then interpret as being "Sachkhand". Only the highest of the high Gursikhs have Sachkhand Avastha. They are very rare.by rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
We don't need a pope francis type leader. We need another Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as a leader. If Sant Jee was Jathadar of the Akal Takht today, the Panth would be in such Chardikala. He was humble, soor-veer, kamaeewale, rehitvaan, Paathi, Giani and more. He had more knowledge than any Phd or professor out there. When he was alive so many Sikhs were taking Amrit and leaving drugs. May Guby rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
When I feel like sleeping I get up and do 20 pushups. That's when my heart starts pumping and I lose all sleepy feeling and then go back to doing paath. Trust me, it works and it keeps you fit too. This way the Tann(body) and Mann(mind) are both taken care of.by rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I'm a beginner. My mind wanders a lot. I have seen that I focus most on that Bani when I know or understand the arths of each tukh. But when I don't know the arths of a Tukh, I tend to lose focus. Studying the arths, start with Japji Sahib and move on to other nitnemi Banis. Talwara Jee has written some very good arths of Nitnem. Study them for a good understanding. Study one pouri per day. Sikh body blames former DGP of conversion AMRITSAR : All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF), Peer Mohammad faction, has submitted a memorandum with Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Gurbachan Singh seeking his intervention into the incident of alleged conversion of Sikhs into Islam by former DGP Mohammad Izhar Alam Khan. I don't know if you want to join an army which has waged unjust wars all over the world for the last 50 years. The US army has not really fought a defensive war since WW2. I think it would be better for Sikhs to join the police force since that is worthy of respect and plus you do good for society in general.by rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

That is a Kala Afghanist site, in fact this is their main site. On the one hand they don't like Giani Gian Singh and on the other hand they don't like Bhai Sahib Bhai Vir Singh Jee either. They are just doing drama of humdardi and agreement with Giani Gian Singh Jee, read their Nindya filled literature on what they write on Giani Gian Singh. So what purpose does it serve for them to write such anby rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Over all I don't think the Taliban are an innocent party. They gave refuge to OBL, but it was also their responsibility to make sure OBL behaves and not attack other countries while on their soil. When OBL attacked on 9/11, America was also fully justified in their attack. America on their part should not meddle in the affairs of the Muslim world either. America acts just as imperialistic today aby rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Sukhdeep Singh Jee, before reading some of the posts here, I did not know much about Wahabism, Deobandi, Taliban etc that is being discussed here. But after searching the internet for the last 2 days, I following information is what I have come to know: -Afghan Sikhs were not involved in the anglo Afghan wars as fighting against the British. They were/are mainly a trading class in Afghanistan.by rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
They should continue keeping Bana as the school uniform. A few years ago the Kala Afghanist group, Dal Khalsa raised objection that non Sikh children should not be wearing Bana not surprisingly since you barely see Dal Khalsa wear Bana themselves, they always wear pant shirt. But other than them, the Panth supports Akal academy. Akal academy is one of the best things to have happened to the Sikhby rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge. I now understand the difference between our prayer and their concept of prayer. Their concept of prayer is that they talk to God, similar to how we do ardas(they call that prayer). While when we do paath or simran we do it not to have a conversation, but to clean the Janam Janam di Mail from our Mann. I notice they have targeted many Sikhs for conveby rsingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Recently I met a Christian who was a former Sikh. Actually he was a typical Punjabi not a religious Sikh when he became a Christian. While having a discussion with him, he would make indirect attacks on the Sikh faith. One should try to make an effort to learn Punjabi and read the original teeka instead of translations. It will seem difficult at first but as you progress you yourself will prefer to read in Punjabi. Try to make it into a spiritual journey. First start off with Japji Sahib or small Shabads and build up from their. Learner Jee we should not follow the feminist model of the west. Yes, both are equal from religious point of view, but in family and society both have different roles to pay. Very good write up Kulbir Singh Jee. All the old writers who have criticized Baba Jee are full of contradictions.
