Indeed seva is amazing as they are full of the right aspect and vision for Sikhe. Only recently one of their reps was down in my town and within one hour raised £45000 - . The outreeach of the baru sahib academies is a real key - sangat is always there for help and donation but the runners of the insitiution have to be 100% authentic as this one - and thererfore chardi kala.
They should continue keeping Bana as the school uniform. A few years ago the Kala Afghanist group, Dal Khalsa raised objection that non Sikh children should not be wearing Bana not surprisingly since you barely see Dal Khalsa wear Bana themselves, they always wear pant shirt. But other than them, the Panth supports Akal academy. Akal academy is one of the best things to have happened to the Sikh Panth.
My favorite policy of the school is Dastar is mandatory for everyone who comes. Some years ago some Hindu student try to appeal this rule, but Baru Sahib stuck with the policy
