vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh If you have parkash of Guru Granth Sahib ji's saroop at your home and you actively do seva, what are you views on doing bhog to parshada? Does it come down to your sharda or do Gursikhs believe in a set maryada for this? What is Sri Akal Takhat Sahib's stance on this? It would have been better to bar sponsored kirtanis from big smagams. Sangat travels to big smagams at their own expense while no one is willing to go to local programs because there aren't big kirtanis. So in reality this decision could hurt the smagams. Another thing to be considered is there is way too much noise during jatha programs. When I went to this past Delhi smagam, I saw at leastby Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Yes, it's more beneficial to stay until hukamnama and even after until sukhasan and then do seva of Takhat clean up, etc. but you can also look at it in a more positive way, perhaps many of the sangatta that leave were there early to listen to the diwan and had to leave due to early work or amritvela.by Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum

I've always thought that raw food (ie. fruit) are acceptable if taken from non-amritdharis. The whole theory of boiling the milk because it was milked by non-amritdharis seems hard to buy into and probably a new invention. Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Ji fought hard to milk his own cow even whilst in jail. If it was acceptable to use milk by others, he could have easily boiled it and used it. Gurmukh pyareo, it's time to act smart. Raise awareness of the issue, learn about your history and educate others. Please don't take any steps in haste. Guru Gobind Singh Ji Sahib is watching all of this, when it's time to go, visa and passport worries will be resolved.by Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Please remember that Hindu"ism" wasn't name of any religion. Back then, the word Hindu referred to natives of the Hind region. Thus the king probably being a Mughal has referred to Bhagat Ji as a Hindu, native of Hind. Usually all Aryans were referred as Hindu. I also wanted to ask a question, the word "ein" is plural, but it seems like in this shabad it's referring to just Bhagat Naam Devby Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum
vaaheguru ji ka khalsa vaaheguru ji ki fateh I should have clarified on the phone that I am not a representative of the Akhand Kirtani Jatha. This is the second time I have been labelled as one on Punjabi Radio USA. Last time when I was on air, I told them that I am just calling in as a Guru ka Sikh, and not a representative of any particular Jathebandi. You are right veer ji. I didn't use the right words. I was referring to dastars which are tied by normal Punjabs, ie. larrs in the back which is not there in Gurmukhi dastars. If we look at Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Ji, Bhai Sahib Jeevan Singh Ji and so many other Gursikhs, we see that they did not wear dumallas however their dastars were still very simple. You could adorn them with shastarsby Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Fully agreed. Along with commercialization of kirtan, we have also commercialized Guru Ji's baana. We see Gursikhs wearing top-notch clothing and totally "elegant" and perfectly tied paghs. The simplicity in our clothing is also not there anymore.by Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Hemp (bhang) plant is a good source of protein. But is it acceptable for Gursikhs? We eat fruits, which are also used to make wine. So would non-recreational usage of hemp be okay? This forum is great and I am thankful to the admins for doing so much seva and allowing us to post here. I agree that they need to control "controversial" topics but at the same time, I don't think it's right that they first let a topic come up and then later take it down. This gives people who had read the topic a wrong prospective of things. Like for example, some Singhs mentioned that iby Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I saw this picture from Gurdwara Tapoban Sahib - They are sprinkling water infront of degh. I personally always thought that doing this was not necessary. Recently we had to do seva of taking Guru Sahib's saroop to someone's house for Sukhmani Sahib path and some people objected that we didn't sprinkle water. I had washed the outside walk way with the water hose and told them sprinkling waby Umkeo Heo - Gurmat Discussion Forum
