ਵਾਲਹੁ ਨਿਕੀ ਪੁਰਸਲਾਤ ਕੰਨੀ ਨ ਸੁਣੀ ਆਇ ॥
vaalahu nikee purasalaath ka(n)nee n sunee aae ||
The bridge to hell is narrower than a hair; haven't you heard of it with your ears?

Do the arth of this panktee make sense? Couldn't "ਕੰਨੀ ਨ ਸੁਣੀ ਆਇ" mean you cannot listen to this call with your ears. Bhai Sahib Singh does same arth as the ones on Sikhi To The Max.

Any insight on Gurbani lagaa matraa that help do arth of this shabad will be appreciated.

The word ਸੁਣੀ is a verb in Present Perfect tense and the meaning of the Pankiti is: Haven't you heard of Praslaat with your ears? Basically, Baba Farid jee is making us aware of the dangerous bridge in the next world and this way convincing us to not do Paap and get deceived by Maya.

To get this meaning, the verb should be spelled as ਸੁਣੈ instead of ਸੁਣੀ. "Haven't you heard of it" is Present Perfect where as "You cannot listen to it" is Simple Present, hence the form of verb would change.

ਸੁਣੀਆਇ seems to be a combined word and probably of Pothohar origin. The meaning is as discussed by Veer Ji. Elders who belong to that part of Pakistan use words of this mode. May be ਸੁਣੀਆ+ਇ better explains its origin. ਸੁਣੀਆ is further made up of ਸੁਣੀ + ਆ; meaning Did you listen? ਇ is added to ਆ to make it SAMBODHAK.

Thanks for the clarification MB Singh jeeo. It is correct that ਸੁਣੀਆਇ is one word as opposed to ਸੁਣੀ ਆਇ .Gurbani is a treasure that has preserved many languages and dialects.

In ਭੱਟਾੰ ਦੇ ਸਵੲੀਏ, what does "ਰਡ" mean? It comes on Panna 1399 and again in the next couple Pannay.

Is it similar to ਰਹਾਉ ?
