Below is an account that most of you are probably familiar with. I thought it would be apt to also add this to the spiritual stories section. In 1964, when some of the weapons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji were brought back from England, an Englishman, in complete Sikh form, accompanied them. Out of curiousity, someone asked the Englishman what inspired him to adopt the Sikh form. Was it due toby Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Kulbir Singh Ji and 1Kaur Bhenji, you have removed my shanka. I will try to start using my Kanga now. Many years ago someone mentioned to me that plastic bristles are not good for the hair but I chose the easier route! Thanks fpr the swift replies.by Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Sadh Sangat Jio, Currently I use a beard brush for my Dhara. Should I be using my Kanga instead of something with plastic bristles, on a curly Dhara? I fear I may damage the hair with my Kanga. For some reason I feel a Kanga should be used but worried about the practicalites. What is the right approach?by Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
What a beautiful line 'Always respect Gursikhs and never insult any Gursikh. Consider the Bachans of Sikhs sweet (even if they don’t seem to be). If you meet them, stay humble before them'! Maharaj can take any roop, so we never know who we may be speaking to when angry, jealous etc and speak out of turn. Vista Ji, Thanks for providing a brief insight into the attacks on Darbar Sahib. I really hope Admin will find a place for these accounts on the site. 'After this event, Abdali had Siree Harmander Sahib blown up once again, and the Sarovar was polluted with refuse and the entrails of cows and bullocks. During the cannon fire, a brick from Siree Harmander Sahib struck Abdali on the nose. Thiby Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Kulbir Singh Ji, You are right. The BBC had an article on this very man in late 2003. I think it's quiet a feat if he lives an active life. I have heard of stories of Yogis who have managed to slow their metabolism through Bhagti and live for 100's if not 1000's of years - mainly through my Grandfather. I think he said they stop breathing and trap their breath in the mind or something toby Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Not sure about major surgery but when I had my molars removed in '99, just after taking Amrit, the dentist asked me to remove my Kara. As the procedure was performed under general anaesthetic they considered that the Kara might harm the staff I was to experience a fit? Source Some Famous Sikh Quotes Bertrand Russell (Philosopher, Mathematician 1872-1970) If some lucky men survive the onslaught of the third world war of atomic and hydrogen bombs, then the Sikh religion will be the only means of guiding them. Works by Bhai Nand Lal Ji Goya On the last few pages is the Rehatnama and Tankah nama. Some of the english translations are not entirely accurate but relatively easy to understand Punjabi. What are the five routines in the Rehatnama? At work I cannot use the Gurmukhi Font, but it says 'Panch Nem pur Sikh Jo Dharay, Ikees Kul kutamb ko tharay'. Forgive me for my ignorance, but can someone please explain where the tradition of parkarma started, both of Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and of Nishan Sahib? When I went to Bhindri a couple of years back for Sangrand, I witnessed Baba Mohan Singh Ji do a parkarma with great reverence of the Nishan Sahib about 5 times before doing katha. I have also been told by my Grandfather to always do Namaskby Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Below, is a true account of the power of Ardas: In 1941 my Grandfather was stationed in Afghanistan with the British Army. In his Rasala, was a group of 21 Faujis, and one day they decided to approach their Subedar to request celebrating a Gurpurab. The Subedar who was a strict rehitvaan Singh gave the permission for the small group to gather all necessary supplies. Later on that evening vby Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum

This was posted by Kulbir Singh a few years back on Tapoban.org: Once upon a time, there was this girl who had four boyfriends. She loved the 4th boyfriend the most and adored him with rich robes and treated him to the finest of delicacies. She gave him nothing but the best. She also loved the 3rd boyfriend very much and was always showing him off to neighbouring kingdoms. However, sheby Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Are there any Singh's on this forum learning Santhiya/Gurbani Viakaran in the UK (W London Area)? I would like to take classes if possible from someone knowledgeable.by Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Kulbir Singh Ji, I am indebted to you for the clear vichar of this shabad. The point you make about the nine holes and that the shabad is referring to kaamic individuals makes perfect sense. I hope Guru Sahib blesses me one day with Gurmat so that I can understand Gurbani as easily as your good self. Unjaanby Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum

What an amazing Singh and so much dedication.. 'However, the arduous task of sitting and writing for 14 hours a day has left him with a bent back and feeble legs.' I can't even sit down for 1-2 hours without complaining and less than half the age!by Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Would it be ok for him to fight without wearing his Karpan/Kara? I'm not sure if he is Amritdhari or not but can see this being an obstacle. In fact for an Amritdhari this may be an issue in many sports...ie other close contact sports, swimming etc. Covering his hair should not be a problem as long as he can wear something that will not come off in a headlock or when grappling.by Unjaan - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Shudh Gurbani Ucharran Part 1 - from AKJ.ORG by bsingh » Wed May 04, 2005 4:02 pm Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Every gursikh reads Gurbani everyday. Many of us have learned to recite paath from Gutkai which have romanized gurmukhi. Most of us have been pronouncing gurbani the same way from the very first time we started to read from a gutka. harinder_singh Ji, I think you need to lean Maharni to read Gurbani Shud. As for ਙ I think you should be able to pronounce it by touching the back of the tongue to the top palate twice.
