A true Keertani does not even care about whether they do Keertan or not. They attend smagams regardless and sit in Sangat until the end. They will never bug smagam organisers for time to do Keertan, they will never complain about receiving "prime time" or not. They do Keertan for Guru Sahib, not for haumai. Sadly, I have noticed that many keertanis are attending smagams more to put on a show thby TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Vaheguroo Jee... Forgive my ignorance, but how is the width of somebody's dastar going to affect the amount of naam they jaap?by TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
It is difficult to explain to someone the benefits of Sikhi, as this can only be known by experiencing it yourself. Reading inspirational stories of Gursikhs or beautiful passages of Gurbani may impress them to some extent, but unless somebody experiences it they will never know the full beauty of Sikhi. Bhai Sahib was an inspiration to all who met him. He was so passionate about teaching santhiya and remained strict with all his principles his whole life. I was fortunate enough to spend time with Bhai Sahib, his smile was refreshing, and he always remained chardikala. He always asked me to do paat with him, and I learned much from him. The times I visited Bhai Sahib, he had a bad knee and foundby TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
If you could provide links to similar posts regarding this topic I would appreciate it. One question regarding your post though, you said the Bhagats met Guru Nanak Dev Ji and then once they had become Sikhs they wrote their bani. However I have always thought that some of the Bhagats (Bhagat Fareed Ji is one example) had come to this earth and died before Guru Nanak Dev Jee arrived? Was thisby TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Can somebody reach sachkhand if they have not had physical Darshan of Guru Jee (I.e. One of our 11 Guru Sahibaan) For example, some Bhagats such as Bhagat Jaidev Jee and Bhagat Fareed Jee lived before Sri Guru Nanak Dev jee came to this Earth. However I find it hard to believe that Bhagats who's Bani is found in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee did not reach Sachkhand. What is Sangats views on thiby TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

I thought hukumnama comes from Guru Sahib directly, it doesn't make sense for a Gursikh to choose which Shabad is taken as hukumnama? If I'm wrong please correct meby TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I agree with what Amanjot Singh Jee has said. Guru Sahib has prescribed Shabads with Raags, as such we should make some effort to do Keertan in raag. However sometimes we see keertanis get too caught up and focus more on the raag than the Shabad. They start singing the sa re ga ma... Instead of focussing on the Shabad. There has to be a balance some place in between... Doing Keertan out of raaby TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Thank you for the replies. I was not trying to question the Maryada- after rereading what I wrote I can see that I may have come across like that. I was just curious. It's a little sad to see the current practice of making degh, the proper Maryada is almost completely gone in most Gurughars.by TSingh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Quote I mean if you look at shri guru gobind singh jee pictures they were always dressed up, so I dont feels its wrong to decorate your body. Paintings of the Guru Sahib's are only the artists impression, how the artist thinks they looked and dressed. I don't think they are a reliable source of information. QuoteIt says - Sarbat Sangat Abhakiya dha kutha maas kavay nahi. Sarbat Sangat should not eat kutha meat an animal that is bled or slaughtered to death in the Muslim way. I thought that this was the definition, until you wrote point 5. After further reading, I believe the word 'Kutha' could refer to all types of meat not just halal for instance.
