Vista jeeo, I am not aware of any saakhi behind this salok. This is a great Salok of Bhagat jee that teaches us to become like a dog that is faithful to its master. A dog has good qualities and bad qualities and Gurbani has used metaphor of both good and bad qualities of a dog to give us lesson. While Gurbani teaches us to be faithful to God like a dog is faithful to its master, it also teacheby Kulbir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
GSC733 jeeo Mastering Gurbani Viyakaran is not possible but even if we understand small bit of it, it greatly enhances our understanding of Gurbani. Depending on the background of the student, it takes different amount of time to understand Gurbani. A lot depends on how much vocabulary one has. If Guru Sahib wills, some kind of Gurbani course will be started to enhance Gurbani understaby Kulbir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
QuoteIt is the natural law that visible body is a barrier to the soul being for entry into heaven. Visible body has to be abandoned in this world, then alone soul being can enter the higher world of heaven. Similarly, the soul being can not enter Sach Khand, the Divine Abode, without abandoning the causative and imperceptible bodies. This is the essential condition. Vaheguru! This is a good story that shows how stupid we get when we lose focus of our main goal in life. The goal is to get the mind out of Maya and into Naam. More we fight over trivial things, more our mind gets trapped in Maya. The focus should be Naam abhyaas so that we may have darshan of Vaheguru. Kulbir Singhby Kulbir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Sodhi Harbhajan Singh wrote a book called “Bhajan Bandagi da Pratap”. In this book he has narrated a very interesting and funny story of an atheist who used to challenge the existence of God. Gurbani says that Vaheguru ensures that everyone gets food or Rozee but this person used to say that there is no God and if a person does not work for food, food won’t come to him. No matter how much we justify the reason why Bhai Maha Singh and his companions gave bedaava, the truth of the matter is that they became bemukh right when they disobeyed Guru Sahib and gave him Bedaava. The Bedaava clearly indicated that they were no longer Guru's Sikhs and Guru Sahib was no longer their Guru. There is not a more clear way of becoming a Bemukh. QuoteSO Im guessing because of the preposition Naaley ਦਰਿ is not a verb? The preposition derived from the sihaari of ਦਰਿ is not naaley but uppar. This meaning of uppar or uttay is derived from the sihaari. Naalay is also a preposition but it goes with Devtiyaan. Many thanks GSC733 jeeo for pointing out the name of the Singh who astonished Bhai Sahib. I failed to read the appendix of this book when I wrote the story and this is why I missed it. Sanmukh is such person who has his face towards i.e. obeys the hukams of Guru Sahib. Sanmukh is a person who is a Gursikh in good standing. Quote However... what about situations where Gurbani could have easily been written to reflect a certain pronunciation but was not? A lot of times it might make sense to insert the tippee sound when it is not actually present (even though it was available to be used at the time). Like for example, at the end of Anand Sahib... I think most of this problem we have of independance of the Singh Sahibaan, is because Shiromini Committee is not independant. This can be easily solved if the candidates who fight elections are not allowed to associate with any political party. Now SGPC is controlled indirectly by Akali Dal Badal. It is unfortunate that we have lost so many communities who were once followers of Sikhi. Sindhis are foremost example of this. I guess, it was the strategic mistake of Maharaja Ranjit Singh to forgo his right on Sindh, in the 1810 British Sikh agreement.
