how bad is an ungrateful person? read below bhai gurdas' bani:

The meat of dog cooked in the wine was,
Along with its foul smell, kept in the human skull.
It was covered with blood stained cloth.
Covering thus, the scavenger woman (ਚੂਹੜੀ) after appeasing her lust (still polluted after the act) was carrying that
bowl.
On being asked about (the abominable covered material) she cleared the doubt,
By saying that she had covered the meat to hide it from the sight of an ungrateful person
to avoid pollution caused by his look.(9)

The ungrateful person mentioned by Bhai Gurdaas jee in the pauri above is such person who does not thank Vaheguru jee for all the gifts received from Him. We take everything for granted. We cannot repay the debt of having eyes, ears, nose, tongue and all other functioning parts of our human body. We cannot repay the debt of being able to drink fresh cold water, breathe comfort-giving air and priceless gift of fire without which imagine we could not even eat good.

How to thank Vaheguru? The way to thank is not just say thank you to Vaheguru. The way to thank in Gurmat is to thank him with every breath. The way to thank him is to japp Naam all the time, while breathing, eating, getting up, sitting down, sleeping, playing, walking, and doing all other activities. We should attempt to do it. Then Guru Sahib would surely do kirpa and Naam Abhyaas would happen effortlessly.
