Singh1699 I absolutely agree with your point. And I also would add that Gurmat marg is not just a religion, it is a particular specific path/marg in which we take on a specific purakh as our Guru, ie Guru Nanak. We go wrong when we start comparing 'concepts' with other religions and start explaining that Sikhi is good because we believe in One God and everybody has been created by Him and we aby eyesacademic - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Singh1699 ji, I am not surprised at the fact of disease afflicting a human body. Of course we already know that bhagats and sants do contract disease. And yes we do agree that they have shakti to cure themselves IF they wish so. But curing oneself by explicit desiring or praying to Waheguru for the same and Waheguru accepting the prayer is a separate and different concept. The concept I am preby eyesacademic - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Yes, I understand that long unhealthy confinement is a cause for disease. As I said I understand how disease came about. So this is not the problem. The point in question is that Gurbani says that Naam and Gurbani removes diseases. And this has been said to be a natural effect of Naam. It has not been said that disease goes away only when asked for. We read Gurbani, and we still have diseasesby eyesacademic - Gurmat Discussion Forum
When I read about Gurmukhs, with much kamai and much high avastha, contracting disease, I fall into doubts. I just read that when Bhai Maharaj Singh ji was confined to a dark and dingy prison room his health deteriorated. He got severe joint inflammation. I do not know anything about Shashikant ji's truthfulness BUT he is saying what I say too. There has to be a solution at the political level. Another alternative needs to be formed against the Akali-BJP, Congress front. And THAT front I think is Manpreet Badal. He is an honest and educated person. He should be given support.by eyesacademic - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Singh1699, I have seen such questions discussed online a lot of times. My view is that is it a wrong approach to convince another person about Sikhi based upon an FAQ. No argument is final, it can carry on and on and on. My view is that a person gets into Sikhi not by getting all his questions answered. One of the ways of getting into Sikhi which is in my view the correct way of gettingby eyesacademic - Gurmat Discussion Forum

DSGj, Yes veer ji I agree that a letter could be transcribed and translated by someone other than Longowal. No, this letter cannot be real. The style and sentence structure of the english used cannot be of Longowal. The english used in India when writing letters tends to be very formal and impersonal. The phrases used are those which have been taught in schools in India. Singhni ji, In a cultural group value of a single human life is not dependent upon the population density (number of people per square kilometer). It is dependent upon the cultural, social, religious values of that cultural group. Gursikhs should be able to give a better answer, but all I know is if there is a 'presence' which deters or intimidates you when you do mantra jaap, then it is all the more reason to NOT give up the jaap.
