Can karma be burned by Gurbani, or only by naam?by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
No matter what is wrong at akal takht or what is wrong in their decisions, we cannot simply try to operate in parallel with it according our own beliefs. If we have disagreements then they should be raised with the Takht for them to be implemented throughout the panth, but we cannot just carry on doing as we please even if we disagree with Akal Takht's decisions. This is the key to unity.by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh I would just like to ask if anyone has any advice on how to respectfully dispose of (for lack of a better word), old tapes and videos with Gurbani on them? We have phoned one Gurdwara Sahib with a bhata sahib about agan bhet, but they have said no. Could anyone else who has been in this situation please advise if they have found any solution. Thank you.by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Giani Thakur Singh Ji's rehras sahib katha sheds light on the meanings of "Raam katha jug jug atal", according to the katha, the first occurence of Raam refers to Vaheguroo, while the second refers to Raam Chandar ji. I don't what to post up the wrong meaning from memory so I will post the link later (its on gurmatveechar)by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh jeeo! Inspired by the other thread 'your favourites..', perhaps we can have another thread with lots of links to all members favourite keertan. I will start (bear with me i have quite a few!): I have only found a few shabads by sachkhandvasi Sant Mani Singh Ji, but I love all of them- - Bhai Karam Singh Ji CA, eko rav rahia ghat antar mukh bolby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I just want to clarify that I am amritdhari and 100% vegetarian, why I asked was because apparently none of the bone char enters the sugar, and also the bones are supposed to be from animals that died naturally (not sure how true this second point is).by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Bhai sahib Jaspreet singh jeeo thank you for your reply just wondering do you mean to say your interpretation is to repeat Guru Maharaj's name? Thats an interesting way to look at it. Bhai Sahib Kulbir singh jeeo, thank you for replying, it would seem then that we have special instruction that to remove dukh ardas can be done specifically to Maharaj in roop of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji, I gueby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
true i suppose checking is not really that big a deal.. on a side note I was just wondering what most gursikhs actually feel about the issue of bone char filtered sugar? I did a quick search on a few forums and it appeared some Gursikhs did not see it to be a problem.by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Thank you for providing that info, but what I meant to ask was in regards to eating food prepared by ANOTHER gursikh. I mean in the case where one is offered food made by a Gursikh and say that there are some items in that which may or may not be suitable depending on brand (eg sugar in degh) and which many Gursikhs would not be aware of the need to check is it acceptable to simply eat the food wby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh jeeo, Once I also had someone question me about this sakhi using some quotes from sikhs.org, which seems to be using one of the original sources of this sakhi: Quote When the Guru visited Kurukshetra in Haryana, a big fair was being held at the holy tank to celebrate the solar eclipse. There were a large number of pilgrims all over the country. On his arby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

1. What is your favourite Gurbani (or banis) and why? This is not possible for me to answer 2. What is your favourite shabad and why? I can't answer this one either! lol, but still, Simrat naam maneh sukha payeae- Love this shabad sung by Bhai Balbir Singh Ji in raag kaanra, can't explain why, just listen! gursikh jogee jagade (bhai gurdas vara)- this is a shabad which is frequentlyby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh jeeo! Well I'm not bibeki (yet),but just want to ask the bibekis a question. Basically there are some products which people don't expect are not acceptable, eg. sugar which has been filtered through bone char. I don't think most people would think to check about their sugar. There are also things like vanilla flavouring which contain alcohol, which I thinkby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
