VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh Jeeo, Just wanted to let all Sikh University students know about a scheme called Undergraduate ParliaMentors, run by the Three Faiths Forum (3FF). I am one of three Sikhs and the only Amritdhari currently on the scheme, in total there are about 45 students of various faiths and beliefs. Applications for next years scheme are now open. "what are they doing in darbar sahib, nonetheless right behind kirtani jatha? No offence to you, 'the martyred ghost', but I was horrified and extremely hurt to see these above two statments. Have we forgotten the most basic reason as to why there are four doors into harmandar sahib? Since when was darbar sahib an exclusive place for Gursikhs? Since when was there any prioroity or discriminatiby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Some Gursikhs follow a tradition of tying panj mini sarbloh shastars into their bunga before tying a dumalla. a)What are the benefits of this, and b)what is the technique for doing this (do you use string, thora..)? Also is there any chance of kesa di beadbi if its tied directly into bunga?by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Inspired by sangat here, I've decided to start writing poetry again, haven't done so for about 5 years. I was looking at a few I'd written when I was about 15/16 just to get back in the mode, and I thought I'd share them here. Unfortunately back then and even now my punjabi is not good enough to write in so they are all in English. Please note these poems are on sikhsangat posted by 'GuptG' eby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
How interesting! I know as a rule the manglacharan should always be read first, but in this case where should this line be read? Before both the manglacharan and the sirlekh, or after manglacharan before sirlekh, or after both? VahegurooJiKaKhalsaVahegurooJiKiFateh Jeeo, In the jeevani of Bhai Surinder Singh Ji "Dr. Sahib" (Which can be read here: ) we learn that Dr. Sahib learnt keertan from a Bhai Amreek Singh Hazoori Ragi and it is mentioned that Dr. Sahib said that if anyone wanted to listen to the ras of keertan they should listen to keertan by this bhai sahib. Thank you jeeo, when I first read it I automatically pronounced it as ਕਬੀਰਾ ਤੁਹੀ, ਕਬੀਰੁ ਤੂ, ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਉ ਕਬੀਰੁ॥ however when looking up different meanings I became unsure. I remember seeing a thread about praatan maryada of amrit sanchaars, something about how amrit sanchars were held in the same room as the akhand paath held before them and that those selected to be in the Panj Pyare were the pathis. Can anyone please post the link to it?by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I am not so sure that navy blue is the correct translation of surmai, as I mentioned in my earlier post shopkeepers in india considered surmai to be a grey colour, and having checked my punjabi dictionary, the definition for surmai is given as "Greyish, light blue, dark grey". Which is odd considering I have not seen any picture of bhai sahib or other gursikhs wearing this colour...by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I asked someone in india to buy me some surmai material for dastar but the shopkeeper showed them a grey colour and not the dark blue as pictured in the thread so they didnt buy it. Is there any other name for this specific shade?by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Use conditioner, eg original source, you can infact comb your dhari with the conditioner still in and then wash it out. After that put some tel such as coconut oil on it.Alot of it is to do with the direction you comb it in (in regards to the dhari on the sides of the face.if you comb it directly down it will look more curly. Instead comb it downwards, but at a slight angle away from your face. Aby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Bhai Kulbir Singh jeeo, I came across a post of yours on the old tapoban forum, I would just like to ask if you could please elaborate further on the part below: "Doctors can say whatever they want to say about ghee i.e. it increases cholesterol etc but Gursikhs who japp Naam know that without ghee, Naam abhyaas is harder to do.
