One of my favourite lines from Gurbani: Ang by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I was on the bus this morning, looking out the window and I see an adult man, with a dhari and patka... and a cigarette in hand. The immediate thought came in my mind that I should get off at the next stop and go back to speak to him. Then I just thought, forget it the bus is going hes not going to listen, but just as the bus doors were closing I could not bear it and got off to go find him.by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

What about thavae, I think normal thavae are iron with wooden handle anyway, I suppose these are ok? 2. What utensils are used for when placing food in an oven (baking)? 3. Reminder- Applications close on 12th June 2012. I'm more than happy to help or advise anyone applying or thinking of applying. Once again I would like to reiterate that I can vouch for the fact that this is a really amazing opportunity. There are so many possibilities... for instance my own trio is working on a documentary for schools, where we got to interview various people of faith. Was suby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Below I have a response from someone given on another forum, to me this argument does not make sense, bhai sahib could you please do kirpa and clarify further: QuoteThe difference between "EK" and "EKA" is that EK refers to one as in number, but EKA is refering to one who, or one who has etc. In english translation the meaning is lost where sometimes just one is entered, and sometimes where "tby Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Thank you bhai sahib jeeo for clarifying this very important principle of Gursikhi maarag.by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Thank you both, but I am still wondering, does this apply even to singing of gurbani, or does it only mean other praises (those of other religions)? If it also includes bani, then what I don't understand is, even if someone is not yet amritdhari or following full rehat, surely the only way we can obtain saad of shabad and the other qualities by 'forcing' ourselves (in a sense manhatt) anyway?by Uttam Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Thanks for your reply, Bhai Sukhdeep Singh jeeo. So manhatt means other activites. In regards to this particular shabad, my automatic assumption was that the reference to singing gunns was to singing Gurbani, which gave me confusion as the meaning then seemed to be that someone without parteet, sehaj, bhaou who has not found saad of the shabad, what is the point of them singing in manhatt.
