The reasons I can think of why people sit down instead of stand up for the Laavan as per stated in the Akal Takht Maryada are: 1) Lack of parchaar and awareness of the Maryada 2) Panjabi ladies suits/lenghas are too heavy and so perhaps they feel more comfortable sitting.by Manvir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Firstly, you have the legal right to wear the Kirpan at work. It would be advisable to keep the Kirpan gupt and covered with a jumper, coat etc. If a member of staff asks you if you are wearing the Kirpan, then you can tell them that you do and show it with pride. All schools should be understanding because the 5 Ks are taught to students at school. However, other than that you don't need toby Manvir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Guru Pyaario, Daas is going to India in April and wished to buy some Sarbloh utensils. Can anyone guide me where to buy them in Amritsar or Jalandhar area? Also, can you get the shiny/polished Sarbloh like the ones that are sold in Toronto area? Thanks Manvir Singhby Manvir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Guru Pyaario, we have all probably heard someone say Guru Gobind Singh Jee had two or three wives. However, I have read many times seen on posters of Guru Sahibaans bio data that Guru Hargobind Sahib jee and Guru Har Rai Sahib jee had six and three wives. Can Sangat please give history and information behind this please. Thanks Manvir Singhby Manvir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh Guru Pyaario, I was thinking it would be good if we could share awareness of common mistakes in Uchaaran (pronunciation) made in Nitnem so that we can all help one another to correct ourselves and help others also. I spoke to a Singh who was wearing the "Shingaar" in their Dumallaa. The Singh told me that the Shingaar is a pig's tooth with some bells dangling from the top. I was told it was a "Puraatan Shastar" used by Singhs. Wearing a pig's tooth in the Dumallaa apparently scared the Mughals/Afghans/Muslim soldiers as they never wanted to touch anything to do with a pig. Story relating to Nitnem Rehit: Guru Gobind Singh Jee was once sitting with the Sangat. He had with him a stone and a bucket full of water. He threw the stone into the bucket and the stone sunk to the bottom. He then asked the Sangat why the stone sunk? One person said that it sunk because it was a stone … a stone always sinks. But Guru Jee asked why is it that the stone sunk? Another Sanby Manvir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Thanks. Is there another Rehatnama? I've heard Kathaa of Baba Jarnail Singh Jee BhindranWale where he quotes a Rehatnama in regards to talking over Gurbani Keertan but I don't think it is the same as you've quoted. Thanks.by Manvir Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Vaheguru Jee. It is very sad that the "Panthic" Jathedaars gave Surinder Singh, Dera leader of Kahna Dhesian where Hans Raj Hans sang songs and Sangat danced in Guru Jee's Hazooree, a "Thankhaah" of 21 Japji Sahibs. Vaheguru Jee. Sikhi believes in logic and reason, however Sikhi also believes in faith, devotion and Guru Jee/Akaal Purakh can make the impossible possible. Khalsa Jee Someone was talking to Daas about Bibek. They seemed ignorant of Gurmat Rehat however felt passionately that keeping any sort of Bibek (Amritdhari Bibek or Sarbloh Bibek) was anti-Sikhi and was a "threat to Sikhi" which needed to be "stamped out". I don't see anything wrong with reading Sehaj Paatth from such mediums. However, according to the Panthic Sikh Rehit Maryada, the Sehaj Paatth arambh (start) and bhog (completion) should be done from Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. QuoteSikh Rehit Maryada e.
