Ns44 jee, if something is not posted on the forum it doesn't mean Panthic matters are not being discussed by members of the forum elsewhere. Furthermore, you too are an active contributor to this message board and are welcome to start any new topic.by sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I meant to share this back when this topic was posted but was still working on the presentation and forgot to post it when it was complete. The following is a PowerPoint on the topic of dastars and bibian which is geared towards encouraging young bhujangans to adopt Sikhi bana: Please let me know if the link is working or not. I have the same problem. Can't get ready quickly. It's not the amount of time under water that is the problem. One obvious problem is if you don't get your clothes ready the night before you end up wasting time running around searching for everything. Then if you have long kes, it takes longer to do kanga and wash kes. It then takes time to do kanga again to take out the knots that develop when tby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Vaheguru is referred to as Purakh in "mool mantar". Gurbani does therefore give a gender quality to Vaheguru.by sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Also, listening to Nitnem being recited by rehitvaan gursikhs is acceptable and still counts as long as you follow along in your surtee. So they did do Nitnem.by sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Perhaps they did not have an opportunity to learn or for some other reason it was not possible for them to learn to read and write Gurmukhi. Guru Sahib knows. But most of us don't have a good excuse not to learn, and if we choose not to I think we would only be handicapping ourselves. I have met some individuals who simply can't learn to read and write Gurmukhi, because of reasons that are not unby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum

For the first question, I've seen that families that spend more time watching TV together rather than sitting and talking to each other, are more unhappy and and have worse relationships with each other than the second. What I don't understand is why people even choose to get married and have children if they don't want to make the time they spend with their families meaningful. Nice story singh_91. I hope to see the day when truly in our Panth there ceases to be significance on placing distinction between male and female, and as you said, Khalsa becomes Khalsa. I am greatful to the gursikhs in this thread who have stood up for bibian's right to not be excluded from any sort of seva. Hanjee, Allah when used in gurbani does refer to Vaheguru, same way as Raam/Raama etc. However, Raam for Hindus is not Vaheguru, he is a diety. Similarly, I truly believe that the Allah that Muslims worship is also not our Vaheguru. Rest Guru Sahib knows, or maybe gursikhs on this forum.by sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Ns44, In that case, doesnt that mean bibian shouldnt be given a share of panj guphay of degh either? Thinking about the implications of excluding bibian from panj pyarey, I don't know how people are unable to see it as discrimination. Nonetheless, as I think it was yourself that pointed it out, this is a question that too many Sikhs disagree on. Since no bibi is begging to be in panj, it doby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
How can we truly worship someone who has not even revealed their self to us? Only if Guru Sahib presents us with gurbani and naam can it be said that we are worshipping Vaheguru, since naam and gurbani are the roop of Vaheguru. All other scriptures are descriptions of the deities who revealed them to their prophets, but they are not the roop of Vaheguru, unlike naam and gurbani. Gurbani is not juby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
"As Gurbani says RAM JAPO, similarly it says ALLAH KI KAR BANDAGI." When gurbani says to jap Ram, we know that it is not referring to the Hindu Ram, thats why similarly where Gurbani says Allah it does not also have to be referring to Muslim Allah. When I first heard the idea that Allah of Muslims is another diety, it made alot of sense to me from what I learned about the Abrahamic faiths whby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Definitely agree that Allah is another diety. Islam was born when Prophet Muhammad led people to reject the very vast range of dieties that people were worshipping in the Middle East when he came into the picture, and to turn to the god of the Abrahamic faith. It doesnt mean this particular god of theirs is our Vaheguru. Their god has krodh, as attested to in their own scriptures, whereas Vahegurby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Good point that Sikh state is the starting point for Khalsa Raj. Bhai Sukhdeep Singh, as you have studied politics I'm sure you could attest to the fact that empires are never established without there being a strong central political base first. Thinking about it, it only makes sense that Sikhs first and foremost need control over the land that is the foundation of Sikhi, because that soil holdsby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Bhai Sukhdeep Singh jee, many kamayee-vaaley gurmukhs around the world are certain that Khalsa Raj is on it's way. It's a matter of whether you have bishwaash in the bachans of gurmukhs, or if your faith lies in your own understanding of western political theory. I havent read most of the above posts, but I definitely disagree with one of the statements above that this forum is for amritdhari gursikhs only. This is a forum for anyone to learn about gurmat and hopefully be inspired to become a pooran gursikh, amritdharis and non-amritdharis alike. So no one should feel that they are not welcome to ask questions here if they are doing it with the sincere anby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I would just like to add something based on what I have learned from gurmukh pyarey. The clothes with which we are going to sit on tabiya should be so clean that we have not sat with them on any potentially dirty surfaces such as coaches, beds, or even in car seats. When we are travelling in cars and want to remain clean for seva on tabiya, then we either wear another chola on top of our clothesby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum

The problem isnt doing naam abhiyaas in kirtan. We should be doing naam abhiyaas at all times. However, we also need to practice discretion in front of individuals who havent yet recieved naam, as we don't have the authority to give vidhi of naam to them. The problem with dhunee is simply that, if we are the keertani we are leading the sangat and telling them what to say and having them repeat afby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Respectful bhenjee, an individual is not truly a Sikh until they have given their head to Guru Sahib, i.e. taken amrit. So although you compromised your relationship with Guru Sahib, it isnt as grave a mistake as it would have been had you been an amritdhari, as you had not yet become Guru ka Sikh to begin with. There is still plenty of hope for gaining Guru Sahib's khushi and pyaar. The best thiby sk - Gurmat Discussion Forum
