You should consider yourself fortunate. Few people get blessed with the darshan of Guru Sahib or Gurmukhs in their dreams. It seems like Guru Sahib is calling out to you. If you have sangat near by perhaps they can help. If you walk one step towards the Guru he will walk thousands of steps towards you.by Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Sorry if I wasnt clear in my previous post. As previously mentioned for the most part these principles are constant with the exception of poetic flow. Let us look at the 21st pauri of Anand Sahib ਜੇ ਕੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਤੀ ਸਨਮੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ heres an exception a preposition with the orthographic pattern ਗੁਰੂ ਹੋਵੈ ਤ ਸby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
There is a new book recently that came out about Shaheed Bhai Fauja Singh Ji. This is a very good book as well. Bhai Sahib lived and died the life of a Khalsa. You can probably get the book at the next UK smagam. Here is a good documentary about Bhai sahibby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
After reading this topic somebody messaged me asking if drinking milk is ok if they have Health problems. Sorry if my previous post may have been misleading. I simply meant to say that Bibek was practiced differently back then it wasnt so open and at the same time not to rigid. When I said we should avoid processed beverages I was referring to serious Bibekees who dont have health concerns.Inby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
As Veer Gagan Singh Ji has mentioned you need to be conscious while reading Bani. One way can help is keeping in consideration Gurmukhi Grammar principles when doing paath through memory. It can help you distinguish if the word ends with a mukta or laga matra ( besides the cases in which laga matra is added for poetic reasons) . Lets take the noun Guru for example. When Guru has a preposition (by Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Very good points Veer Ji. I agree in everything you said except the metaphor apart. I think Gurbani has a poetic style which includes metaphors and certain things cant be taken as literal but the message is always intended as literal. For example, the story of Baba Adam which is an Islamic reference. I dont think the Torah or Quaran stories came down from Waaheguru I think they were inventedby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
One example is liquid beverages. There are stories that mention how Singhs use to get natural water from wells, and running water such as fountains. There is one funny story about when the Singhs were going to Gurdwara Tapoban Sahib ( located in Hilly area) they wanted to stop by a fountain to get some water. This fountain was on the way to there destination. One of the Singhs told the drby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
If I remember correctly you were the first to bring up the the discussion of evolution referring to Gursikhs who believe in evolution as Darwin followers and atheists. There are plenty of faithful amritdhari Gursikhs who believe in principles of evolution and do not feel like it threatens their sense of Gurmat spirituality. As you mentioned the theory of evolution is just a theory its not a guideby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
"I did mention in my previous post "ancient apes" but you did pay attention, which means that the ancestors were not current apes but ancient apes. Either way, evolution still says that man came from apes or ancient apes or apes-like animals and this is what is against Gurmat" Ape is a broad category, and Im not sure you entirely understand its meaning or the quote you just mentioned. Perhapsby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Im not debating Gurmat im debating psuedo scientist by so called theologians who are acting as they have scientific knowledge. Once again you dont seem to understand evolution and probably struggling with English comprehension. The quote you provided doesnt say man comes from apes he says man, apes, gorillas etc have a common ancestor. This theory was Darwins contribution to the theory of evolutiby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Welcome back Batman! Im sure your sidekick Robin needed a break. QuoteKublir Singh This question makes no sense. This is a religious forum and we are debating about a Gurmat stance. While discussing Gurmat, the topic of 4 Khaanis came and you came along claiming that you know more than Gurbani by saying that there is a 5th Khaani. We only talk about Gurmat on this forum and if a scientific pby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

This book is written from Bhai Jodh Singh Ji ( Delhi) he had Sangat of Bhai sahib and early jatha singhs and has written about those times. As the jatha has expanded you will notice some stark differences from those times and today. One example is how bibek was practiced. Preetam Singh have you not read anything from my previous post. I said Science cannot touch Gurbani. Science is about the natural world whereas Gurbani is about the supernatural. Im not sure you even know what Science is. Science is not a religious. Science only makes observations about the natural world ( not supernatural world) and based on evidence it makes statements or theories about theby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Is this a religious debate or a science debate. I dont know because you keep mix-matching the two. Decide what topic you want to talk about. Stop mixing up the two for your own convenience. Karma is different in every religion. Hindus and Buddhist believe they are the masters of their actions, and its through their actions they can receive mukhti. A further point Buddhist dont even believe iby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Hindus, and Buddhist believe in Karma but there belief is completely different than Gurmat Karam Philosophy. Do you dare say Gurmat Karam Philosophy is not distinct from these man made philosophies of other faiths? If Karam Philosophy is different then why is philosophy of creation similar? Nothing in Science can contradict Gurbani because science cannot touch Gurbani. Science is about the naby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
What part do you not understand when I say Gurbani does not teach Science? Gurbani is above science and has no interest in physical material. 4 Khanis is a reference. There are many references in Gurbani that are not meant to be taken literal. I believe in Gurbani but not your literal interpretation on Hindu references. What does Manus concept of 4 Khanis have to do with Gurmat Karam Pby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
The best book about Gurmukh Jot Vigasi Pyaare during Guru Sahibs times is Sikhi Da Bhagat Mala written by Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Ji. Bacteria is a prokaryotic cell that grows exponentially where there are nutrients to consume it does not grow from heat or thin air as spontaneous generation theory suggests. Why are you dictating Gurbani by demanding that unless it explains each Khaani to you, you won't believe it. And furthermore you are demanding that since Gurbani does not speak in scientific language and since it speaks in vernacular, therefore, the claims of Gurbani are null and void. Kamaal hai! No scientific theory ( good or bad) can prove Gurbani wrong because Gurbani makes no scientific claims about the natural world. You are the onky one making the claim that Gurbani makes such claims but still havent given one pangti which Guru Sahib explains the physical creation. Please provide one pangti in which Guru Sahib gives an explanation ( not reference) of the physical creation. Sri Japji Sahib makes it clear that the origins of creation cannot be fathomed. You or your interpretations are the only one making claims of physical creation and itd not a good idea unless you have a scuentific education its best not to mix religion and science as they are two differentby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Kulbir Singh, Gurbani is based in truth its not based on creation theories of Manu or other religions. Without jumping to name calling ( missionary, athiest) kindly explain where acceptance of 4 modes of creation is a hukum and not a hindu reference. Gurbani makes many references to Hindu mythology do you accept these myths. Are you Sikh of the Guru or a Hindu of Manu? The above pangti mentby Suthra Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I recently came across the following video on the net While I agree with the presenter that Aliens cannot visit this Earth the video seems to lack basic knowledge of Science and twist the meanings of Gurbani. The concept of aliens is purely mythological and is based on Hollywood movies. It has nothing to do with Science.
