Seems to me like number of Astpadis have been give for both Gurus. ੮ - number of paddas. ੧੭ - number of Aastpadis of Mahalla 1 ੮ - number of Aastpadis of Mahalla 3 ੨੫ - Grand Total = 17+8 It is not a requirement to have only 3 numbers. Seems to be the practice to include previous total when Banis run for a couple of Angs to avoid flipping back too much to write the nextby Bijla Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
He is truly blessed. The news exposes the bigotry and hypocrisy of many Hindus. It shows how all the assertions “Sikhs are Hindus” and “Khalsa was created as defender of Hindus” are thrown in the trash when one of their own becomes a Sikh.by Bijla Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

With increase of smartphones and tablets in the market, growing number of Sikhs are using these devices to read Gurbani. There were some people few decades back who wished to replace Akhand and Sehaj Paath with audio recordings but their attempt was unsuccessful. Now some are asking if doing paath from computer is the same. So here are just my opinions. Reading Gurbani from phone, tablet or coby Bijla Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
What harms us the most is not the words of our enemies but our own silence. These Christians and Muslims do not have anything of value to offer to the world. It is not difficult to answer them back but it is nearly impossible these days to put together a team to counter such propaganda. Sikhs are the least proactive religious community compared to others. I think Bhai Jagraj Singh did a wonderful job in this discussion. What it comes down to is that he exhibited the confidence to successfully defend Sikhi against Islamic propaganda. We definitely need more like him and such discussions should take place more. Bhai Jagraj Singh is being proactive and such quality is hard to find these days. If Guru Sahib Wills, daas will probably write two articles on this subject refuting Sikh and Hindu misconceptions about Baba Ji. For now, here is an old write-up on the subject. The following is taken from Ibratnama written by Mirza Muhammad. He was employed by Aurangzeb at the court in 1703. His work contains narratives of political events from 1703 to 1719. It is a long text but the followinby Bijla Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

"Can be" is different than what it really is. A call to prayer is not a Hukam. Hukam in Arabic is a verbal command so Azan cannot be used for command. Further, in Gurmat the words get their own meanings and interpretations. Verbal command in Gurbani is Amr but Hukam has comprehensive meanings. Baki only Guru Sahib knows the truth and the real meanings. This fool can only conjecture.by Bijla Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Azan in Arabic means call for prayer which we call Baang. Arabic word for Hukam is Amr. I am not sure how Bhai Sahib derived these meanings.by Bijla Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Thank you for the response. My question is about ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਿੰਨ: In what sense is Vaheguru separate from three gunas? Do three gunas exist in Him? Or is it that Vaheguru created the three gunas and He is present in them but they don't exist in Him? From the first pankti I get the impression that everything exists in Him including maya.by Bijla Singh - Gurmat Discussion Forum

During vichaar on God’s attributes with one katha vaachak gursikh the topic of God’s Omnipresence came up. The approach to understand this topic is wrong. Nonetheless, here is my take on it based on my limited understanding. Quote"Where had God gone in the holocaust/genocide? There were people crying out for God. Where was God?" God is everywhere. There is no restriction on Him to exercise His power when someone asks for help. This makes it clear and I agree with you. Perhaps you shouldn’t say God becomes from One to many and just state that He is present everywhere and His light pervades all. Being Anek refers to being present in everything rather than the thing itself in essence. This fine line needs to be visible and clear to distinguish Gurmat monotheism from pantheism.
