KULBI R SINGH Ji, I agree to your observance for significance of these two words for Poetic Maatras. This is one of the applications of these words. My context is the application of these words in the very SYMBOL in SGGS ji. Many say this as Ik ONKAAR and Many Say as EK ONKAAR. In this SYMBOL there is perhaps no consideration of Poetic Maatras. One can look at the following Quote from Banee Sukhmanee as ਕਬਹੂ ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਰੰby prakash.s.bagga - Gurmat Discussion Forum
The words EK and IK are very vital in Gurbani .There is general confusion in understanding the application of these two words. Due to this confusion one is unable to know about the correct word for the Numerical Number "ONE" of the very first SYMBOL given at the start of SGGS j and every where before start of any Raag thru-out Gurbani. Therefore it would be virtually important to understandby prakash.s.bagga - Gurmat Discussion Forum

I may inform you that I am well familiar with the contents of Grammar of both the Authors And having gone thru their contents very carefully. It can be agreed that there is general difficulty in pronouncing the words with matra of Aukad and Sihari. It is equally important to notice that nearly 70% of Gurbani words are with a matra of Aukad and Sihai. And these two matras are very significant in directing the meanings to the Gurbani messages. Therefore their role can not be undermined in context of overall understanding of Gurbani.by prakash.s.bagga - Gurmat Discussion Forum
From observation of Gurbani words we can learn that even a Word without Aukad under its last letter can still be Adjective. One can look at this Quote as ਅਮੁਲ ਗੁਣ ਅਮੁਲ ਵਾਪਾਰ ॥ ਅਮੁਲ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਅਮੁਲ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ ਅਮੁਲ ਆਵਹਿ ਅਮੁਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਅਮੁਲ ਭਾਇ ਅਮੁਲਾ ਸਮਾਹਿby prakash.s.bagga - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I feel that for understanding of Gurbani our 10th Nanak GuRoo Gobind Singh ji stated an excellent clue which in my view is totally overlooked . In fact one should be very clear first as to what is required to be known from within Gurbani.?Without knowing this one will always be moving in cirlcles for getting correct understanding of Gurbani. I find that when we write Gurbani words from Gurmukhi script to Roman Script the indications of the matra Aukad and Sihari are ommmieted. Due to this ommission it becomes difficult to know whether particular word is SINULAR or PLURAL NOUN or ADJECTIVE Accordingly one gives the meanings without consideration of these matras for directing the meanings of Gurbani words. If we consider the meanings of the words HAR(i) NAAMu as HARi Da NAAM and that of RAM NAAMu as RAM Da NAAM ,then it should be interesting to know what is HARi Da NAAM and RAM Da NAAM as per Gurbani. What should be RAM Da NAAM ? According to this Is RAM da NAAM should be the word RAM but In Gurbani we do not get any QUOTE to tell that RAM Da Naam is the word RAM.. . The word HAR(i) (HAR with Sihari matra with R ) is a very special word in Gurbani. It is really very important to understand the correct reference meanings of this word in different context of its application in Gurbani. As per my understanding of Gurbani ,we can observe a definite pattern of all Noun-Adjective words. The understanding of this definite pattern of NOUN-ADJECTIVE words is the keyby prakash.s.bagga - Gurmat Discussion Forum
It is important to understand onething very clearly that the correct word is VahiGuRoo and or Vah GuRoo (the word GuRoo is always with a matra of Dulakad under the letter R of the word GuR) By mentioning so I dont intend to offend anyone but this is a common error committed in writing this word in Roman script for Gurbani words. From Gurbanee we can learn that there is a reference of the words as SABAD(u) GuRoo.(It may be noted that the word SABAD is always with a matra of Aukad under its last letter and the word GuRoo is the word GuR with matra of Dulaikad under its last letter) SABAD(u) GuRoo forms a very important concept in the whole of Gurbani. It tells us that "There is a SINGLE WORD As GURoo."
