Doing Nitnem banis in order
September 08, 2010 06:47AM
Is it okay to do your nitnem banis like not in the order they are? Like I like doing Swayiyee and Chapaui Sahib first, and then Japji and Jaap Sahib...then Anand Sahib...

So is it okay or not?

We should recite the same Bani's in the same order as were recited during the preparation of Khande-dee-Pahul to experience and enjoy Amrit Rass that we experienced when we took Amrit during Amrit Sanchaar.

This moorakh can only contribute what he has heard from some saints.

This question was put to Bhai Sahib Bhai Jasbir Singhi Ji Khalsa Khanne Walle once. He categorically said that the nitnemt baanis should be done in the same order as were recited during the preparation of Khande-dee-Pahul!

Of course, the sweetest way is to do it in the order. Yet, there are situations, one fails to follow the sequence.

Sometimes, due to time shortage or unavilability of Gurbani Pothi, one is not able to do JAAP SAHIB, immediately after JAPU JI. One cannot do JAAP SAHIB from memory, without giving enough concentration. On the other hand, the rest of the Nitnem can be done, even if one is sitting in a group or on a public transport. This is general observation. Students are often under time pressures. So, if one happens to break the order; it should not be a big issue. Something is always better than nothing.

Guru Sahib knows our intentions and listens to our issues.
