Proper dietary bibek of Khalsa must have SARBLOH!

Posted by sikh.learner
Daasgupt jeeo,

I am not sure why you keep referring to it being slanderous to say that not keeping Rehit is a Dhil. We don't go around telling people that they are Dhillay or making a list of all the Gursikhs who don't keep Banay di Rehit and put a label of Dhilla on them. All we are saying is that it is Guru Sahib's Hukam to only wear Gurmukhi Bana, and that not obeying that Rehit is a Dhil. What is wrong in that?

You made the point that if someone has a Majboori to wear Aanmatti clothes then it is fine and that they are not going against Guru Sahib's Hukam. But this doesn't make any sense at all. It is understandable why someone would make the decision to wear platoon at work but that does not make it acceptable. Hukam is Hukam and as many of Guru Sahib's Hukams we follow that much Guru Sahib will shower us with Kirpa and Love.

We shouldn't try to change Guru Sahib's Hukams just to be pleasing to others. If we can't follow the Hukam ourselves we should still say that it is Hukam and shouldn't shirk away from our responsibilities and should own up to our Dhills.

But said so, daas mentioned "desire of mind", daas knows many Gurmukhs who wear Western Clothes to work because it is more convenient and safe, and they could be ABOVE THIS, meaning their Naam Khanda could be going on 24/7 and their Jeevan coming to such point where they do not fall trap of their mind's desires, they remain unaffected. Who is to call or judge such Gurmukh dhilla?

Firstly I want to reinstate that it isn't our goal to go around telling people they are Dhillay and we aren't telling you to tell people that either. But if someone has 24/7 Naam Abhiyaas it doesn't mean that they are now exempt from following Rehit. We must follow all of Guru Sahib's Hukams in order to receive full Kirpa from Guru Sahib.

Here is an extract from Gurmat Bibek Pustak where Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh writes about Gursikhs who have a lot of Naam Kamayee but don't keep Rehit:

Quote

What about People who don't keep Sarbloh but have High Avastha?

(Gurmat Bibek, page 259).

Humble Translation: People with unripe-concentration, who after a mild stroke of Naam give up other Rehits and styles (Bahit), their little bit of Kamaaee (spiritual earning) stays stuck there. The Rehits and styles of Gursikhi are beyond of the beyond and to earn all principles (of Gurmat) is called Bibek Karni i.e. Gurmat Bibek.

Vichaar: Sometimes, due to massive Bhagti from previous lives or other spiritual reasons, some individuals experience mystical spiritual states without keeping full Rehit. Some fortunate ones like Bibi Nand Kaur (sister of Bhai Gurdeep Singh Ranglay Sajjan) experienced Jyot Vigaasi Avastha even before Amrit Chhak. This was because of her Dasam-Duaari brother's wish to have her sister experience Guru Sahib's Kala. But this does not mean that Rehit and other Hukams of Guru Sahib should be ignored, nor did Bibi Nand Kaur ignore to take Amrit and keep Rehit. She did take Amrit later on. If such fortunate individuals who have high mystical experiences due to previous Kamaayee, don't obey Hukams of Guru Sahib and keep Rehit, their mystical experiences either stop getting enhanced or totally cease to occur, as previous Kamaayee fades out. This is based on a writing of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee. He has written that a Sikh should strive to obey all Hukams of Guru Sahib.

Here is another extract from Bhai Sahib's writing:

Bhai Sahib on Bibek of Gurmukhi Baana

Humble Loose Translation: Wearing the weapons-laden attire (Khalsa Baana) and becoming Tyaar-Bar-Tyaar, he is made to stand in front of Guru Sahib (at the time of Amrit Sinchaar); as if a foundation (of wearing Baana) for eternity has been founded. All his life, exactly like this, he as to stay Tyaar-bar-Tyaar by always wearing Khalsa weapons-laden attire (Khalsa Shaster Baster Baana). He is never to eschew (give up) Gurmukhi Baana (attire) and never shed Khalsa Rehit attire. Same way all 5 Kakaars must stay on and should not be allowed to separate from the body even for a second.

Vichaar: Here a very subtle concept needs to be recognized. Notice that Bhai Sahib has distinguished between 5 Kakaars and Gurmukhi Baana. While 5 Kakaars are part of the Gurmukhi Baana, Gurmukhi Baana is more than Kakaars alone. Some people claim that Gurmukhi Baana is limited to 5 Kakaars and beyond that there is no limit on what Khalsa wears but the truth is that there is a limit to what Khalsa can wear and cannot wear. Gurmukhi Baana is also one of the Bibeks that a Gursikh should strive to follow.

One of Bhai Sahib’s sentence above is very strong – Khalsa is never to eschew Gurmukhi Baana. May Guru Sahib bless us with Baani, Baana, Sewa and Simran.

Kulbir Singh
