Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh

In India before the Dusherra, Hindus (even some so called Sikh families too) celebrate Navratrey (9 fasting days) and on the 8/9th day, they invite girls (age between 1-15) and distribute eatbles, money and small gifts to these girls and also do worship their devi / deveta along with them.

Should Sikh Girls accept such invitations from their neighbour houses and attend the same.

May be outside India, Sikh kids need to attend ritual of Christian or other communities.

If this is not okay with Gurmat, how one can refuse such invitation without hurting any body feelings.

Kindly advise with rationales.

Kind regards

Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh !!

Bhai Sahib ji,

As per limited knowledge Daas in regards to Gurbani:

Fasting is NOT allowed in Gurmat: "Choddey ann kareh pakhand, Na auh suhagan Na auh rand"... people oftenly used to eat specific type of food during these days as they thought it is pleasing to someone but a SIKH should not consider anything as tasty as NAAM... GURBANI...

As a tradition, most Sikhs(not knowing the value of Gurmat) in Northern India(specifically) are following this practice..& send their children for devi poojan for the sake of mere gifts... while Guru Sahib states " Nar te Sur hoye Jaat nimakh mein Satgur Budh Sikhlaayi"... Gurbani itself will make one to attain a status of Sur(Devta) if you listen/accept & follow it..

Guru Sahib has gifted us with the title of Singh/Kaur & this is for ONLY to worship AKAAL PURAKH & NOT ANY DEVI/DEVTAs " Sab Sikhan ko Hukam hai, Guru Manyo Granth"

Giving respect to any preacher/gods of other religion is not bad.. BUT.... we should attune ourselves to the feet of Guru Nanak ji... "Hamra Thakur SAB te Ucha"...

While I've shared all this, I humbly request is to share Gurbani meanings with children/let them do simran for atleast 5-10 mins in everyday routine...do ardaas to Guru Sahib for blessing all your family members with GURMAT... & soon the pyaar of Guru Sahib will make all these bharams left your life for ever...

Daas
