Just to add to Bhai Jasjit Singhs write up. Bapu Surain Singh was from village Shattrana. He was Bhai Sahib Randhir Singhs Garvaaee for a short period aswell. Bapu Surain Singhs leg was amputated in the Japanese war. First thing everyone says about him is that his cheyraa (face) was always 'soohaa laal'. Bapu ji would get up for Amritvela at 12 - 12.30am, followed by a long daily routine oby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum

When taking the kachera off, the right leg should be removed first. The kachera should not touch the feet (i.e. We shouldn't step on top of the kacherra- According to Rehatnamas of Bhai Nand Lal Jee). When right leg is removed wrap the right leg of the wet kachera around your left leg & then put your fresh kachera on.by Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
In Bhai Sahibs times they would keep a bata full of water and wash the hands of the Panj Singh before giving them degh. Only those Singhs who's Singhnia wore Keski were given the Panja Singh dee Degh.by Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
The History written at Gurdwara Kirpan Bhent Sahib (where this Sakhi took place) is as follows: When Guru Sahib was Uch-Da-Pir he was stopped in his tracks by the Mughal Fauj led by Dilawar Khan. Guru Sahib was being carried on a manji by Bhai Daya Singh jee, Bhai Dharam Singh jee, Bhai Ghani Khan jee & Bhai Nabhi Khan jee. Mughal Fauj questioned the Singhs who is this, they replied he is oby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I think Taan Singh is trying to say that those who emphasise on outer rehat should also equally focus on inner rehat. Alot of stress is put on to Sarbloh whereas very little on Naam. By reading Gurmat Bibek pustak by Bhai Sahib we get a taster of what a Bibeki jan is. Hukama sir hukam is Naam Japna. All other hukams of Guru Sahib are in place to excel our Naam Kamaaee. A Gursikh of course willby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
If one does not have access to Laridar Saroop is it possible to put 2 Laridar Senchiya together and do seva of it as 1 saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji?by Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Naam should be an ongoing thing with every breath. Sitting down and jaap naam for the longest will not prove who can be jathedar. To select jathedar the whole jeevan should be looked at and the actions of the individual should be in accordance with Gurmat. If the 2 jathedars are 'fighting' for jathedari then we should give it to neither, only the humblest Sikhs should be given this position, iby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
On Vaisakhi 1699 Guru Gobind Singh jee created the Khalsa. Personally I believe that Guru Sahib also gave Naam drirh at this ceremony....historians say that some 20,000 people took the amrit on this day. Now the question is how can Naam drirh be given to so many people in one day. We see that in India amrit sanchars can take up to 12 hours just for less than 100 people. Some kirpans have leather covers (miaans), some have handles made from bone. I was wondering is it okay to wear these whilst sitting on tabeya or doing seva of Guru Sahibs saroop. Obviously the hands will not come in contact with the kirpan whilst doing seva and it is also easy to do sodhaaee of the kirpans before carrying out seva - handle and miaan can be washed with water. MB Singh, Seems like u have met or seen Dr. Surinder Singh. Would be nice if you could share any other memories of him.by Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Amrit sanchars were something else in them times. These days it has become a formality. The panj Singh were of the highest standard, they were jyot bigaasi gurmukhs. Rehni behni kehni sehni dey gurmukh san. Naam naal rangey hoey. In todays era the panj singh are just selected on something such as the time they get up for amritvela. There is no strictness in sodhaee. Only those who have an amriby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
We all know about the greatness of Bhai Atma Singh panjokhra sahib waley. He spent alot of his time at this historical Gurdwara doing seva. Bhai Atma Singh jee was very close to the likes of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh and Baoo Mal Singh. He was a very strict rehatvaan Gursikh and some Singhs say that he had all of the Guru Granth Sahib memorised. Singhs used to call him 'Pothi Sahib'. He wasby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
There is usually a smagam there near Bhai Sahibs birthday, I think in June/July. There is a Nihang Gurdwara in the pind, also there is a Gurdwara built at the dhaab between Narangwal and Gujjarwal where Bhai sahib and sangee saathees would do Bhagti.by Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
In the eyewitness account of 1699 Vaisaki, by the Bhatts, it is clearly written that Guru Sahib gave us the Panj Kakkars, which includes the Blue Keski. Now, most people I know that believe in keski as kakkar wear a Kesri coloured Keski as opposed to a Blue one. Why is this? I know u could say traditionally people have worn kesri keski, but traditionally people have done larr in the back of thby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
MB Singh, Yes a healthy person can also take it. My brother and mother also take it everyday and they are totally fit and healthy, there are no side effects at all, however you will have to be dedicated and take it everyday before you see changes. It will not happen over night. My father is almost in 50's. You can be any age to take this - young or old. It is a Desi ilaaj/Desi medicine. Myby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
No, what I meant was the ginger juice mixture will last for 4 months. You take out 1 and half chamchey from the mixture and put into another cup and then add 1 table spoon of Black seed oil, 1 table spoon of honey and 1 or 2 spoonfuls of warm water and then drink. You could say the ginger juice mixture is the 'master mixture' and then everyday you take out 1 and half spoonfuls from it and putby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
My father had been bed ridden for some time with arthritis but once he tried this along with Gurbani paath and Naam of course (sarab rog ka aukhad naam) he was cured of his chronic arthritis. • First take the skin off 1 whole ginger and chop it into pieces. • Next put about half a glass full of cold water in a food processor and then put the pieces of ginger and then blend them. •by Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Does Satan exist as an entity in Gurmat? Some Gursikhs have described seeing satan, but I am curious about this as Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh has written a whole book on the mystical unseen world (Undithi duniya) and I havent seen any mention of Satan. Satan is mentioned in Gurbani a few times but I cant help but think this is a metaphor for Kaljug or the mind. All thoughts welcome.by Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum

What is the minimum size of kirpan that a Sikh should wear. Apparantely in 1906 there was a hukamnama from Akal takhat stating that the kirpans minimum size should be 6 inch blade and 3 inch handle. What would a Gursikh who has a physically demanding job do in this situation. I have tried wearing a relatively large size kirpan (6inch blade 3 inch handle=9inch) to work and have had difficultyby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I have learnt from elder Singhs that Bhog of Degh or Langar should only take place with a Sarbloh kirpan that is 1 piece only (i.e. Taksali kirpan style) and not with those with an added handle (should be like taksali style - only one joint). This, apparantly, is the Puratan Maryada of kirpan bheytaa to Karaah Parshaad told to me by a very old CK Sarblohia Singh associated with the Jatha for manyby Singh. - Gurmat Discussion Forum
