Kaal faas and Jamm Faas

Posted by harinder_singh
Veer Bijla Singh in a post said that Kaal Faas and Jamm Faas means the same thing. I agree they are pretty similar terms but there is some slight difference according to my understanding.

Kaal Faas : It means being accountable to Dharam Rai. When the body dies, the jeev has to go to Dharam Rai and give Lekhaa. Even average amritdharis have to go to Dharam Rai where they will be rewarded for chakking amrit, reading Gurbani, doing seva of Guru Ghar but at the same time, they have to give Lekhaa of their other sansaari activities.

Jamm Faas : This is a more strict term which is used for SINNERS. When the body dies, the jeev is caught by Jamm and taken to dharam rai. During the journey, the jeev is giving punishment by JAMM.

The above is my understanding. Bhai Kulbir Singh Jeeo and other knowledgable can give their views and can correct me.

Thanks

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that any amritdhari Sikh who keeps rehit (forgive me, but NOT necessary Sarabh-loh bibeki rehit!), refrains from bujr-kurehats, does nitnem and a bit of Naam-Simran and obviously doesn't do extreme bad karmas, doesn't have to go to Dharam-raaj! Is this not correct?

As per Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji Rampur Khera Wale's biography, he also mentioned the same thing.

Pls coorect me if I'm wrong! Would appreciate if you can reply with Gurbani quotes and/or some authentic Sakhis/incidents.

Sorry Bhai Sahib for moving slightly away from the topic!

Thanks,
Dass

If Guru Sahib has mercy on us and forgives us, its a different thing but otherwise anyone who has not received Naam and Hari Rass, has to got to Jammdoots as per this Pankiti:

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
(Ones who have not tasted Hari Rass i.e. Naam Rass and not obtained Naam, they are unfortunate persons and will have to go to Jamm.)

Having said that, it also seems clear from Gurbani that ones who are close to Gurmukhs and ones who respect such Gurmukhs by saying "Jeeo" to them also don't have to see the Jammdoots:

ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਤਿਨ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਜੀਉ ਕਹੈ ਓਨਾ ਕਉ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤਲਬ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੩॥

(Ones who praise you, O Vaheguru, they possess real Wealth of Naam; my wealth too is your Naam. If someone says "Jeeo" (i.e. respect them) to such Gurmukhs, they too are spared of Jammdoots).

If someone is a Gurmukh, has given his head to Guru Sahib, and still does not keep Guru Sahib's rehit, such person can never achieve the Pooran Avastha. Of course one does get rewarded for Naam and Gurbani Kamaaee but it does not seem possible to attain pooran Avastha without keeping all Rehit of Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee Maharaaj, including the Bibek Rehit. How can one pick and choose Rehit he wants to keep or deny?

jpsingh ji if we haven't reached realms beyond dharam khand in this lifetime, then it seems obvious that we must go to dharam khand after death and face dharam rai. we can't get very far spirtually after death, it's just too late then.

i have heard that some gurmukhs are escorted by shaheed singhs, rather than jamdoots. is this true for all pooran gurmukhs, or only select gurmukhs?

one gurmukh piyara who is blessed to know such things told me on the day before pooran darjee passed, that panj shaheed singhs had come to wait for his soul. this is someone i believe with my whole heart, without even being near to him, how could they know it was his last day in this world?

Dear VeerJi,
I think what you mentioned about going beyond Dharam Khand to avoid Dharam Rai, makes alot of sense!

Kulbir Veer Ji mentioned about "who have not tasted Hari Rass i.e. Naam Rass and not obtained Naam, they are unfortunate persons and will have to go to Jamm". But what would be the yardstick of 'obtaining Naam' in order to be sufficient to escape from Dharam Rai? Does that mean getting Naam from Guru-roop Panj-Pyaare & practising it as much (or as little) as you can, or does it mean achieving realization while practising Naam?
But if we consider what SarblohLove Veerji mentions, then perhaps we can take the 'reaching beyond Dharam Kand' as a yardstcik! The nomenclature 'Dharam Khand' and 'Dharam Rai' may also be there to give us some pointer.
Of course Waheguru Ji's bakshish overrides everything!

Please forgive me if I'm being too technical!

Please share your thoughts and enlighten this tuchh person!

Thanks,
Dass
