Its Asa Ki Vaar, and NOT Asa Di Vaar

Please spread the word ... because this mistake is made in so many places. I just read this article (http://shabadkirtan.blogspot.com/) and thought its good to realize one's mistakes and honor Gurbani in its purity.

i don't see either asa KI vaar or asa DI vaar written in sri guru granth sahib ji.

but whether it's "ki" or "di", shouldn't it be Aasaa Kee Vaar or Aasa Dee Vaar?

that article doesnt proove anything

what you need is bani from guru granth sahib jee

there is basant kee vaar so this can be used as a point on why we should say asaa kee vaar but does it really matter?

When it comes in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, it starts as ASA MAHALLA PEHLA, VAAR-----------------

Where do we find the words ASA KI VAAR or ASA DI VAAR?

VaahegurooJeeKaaKhaalsaaVaahegurooJeeKeeFateh!

I think Veer Mohan Singh Jee means that we should try to say "Aasaa Kee Vaar" rather than "Aasaa Dee Vaar" because all other Vaars of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee explicitly state "Kee." We have Raamkalee Kee Vaar, Jaitsaree Kee Vaar, Basant Kee Vaar, etc. There is no "*** DEE Vaar," but rather all are "*** KEE Vaar."

Even Dasmesh Pitaa Jee's beautiful Vaar from Sri Dasam Granth Sahib was usually referred to as "Vaar Sri Bhagautee Jee KEE," but these days most people will say "Chandee Dee Vaar."

There are some old handwritten Saroops of Maharaj jee where it's written in Tatkara (table of contents) as "Vaar Asa kee, Mahalla 1".I personally always try to write "Asa kee Vaar" but sometimes while speaking I end up saying "Asa dee Vaar". I think it's more shudh to say "Asa kee Vaar".

should we say Chandi Ki Var then?

nope, sri dasam granth sahib clearly says "chandi DEE vaar.

it's simply a minor difference in dialect.
