Feeding Gursikhs, Rejecting Food

The Gurmat asools of Seva have become widely lost from the Panth, with Nimrata being replaced with ideas of entitlement. It is far too common to hear people complain about Bibekis who refuse to eat from people who have "prepared them food with love", as if they have committed some sin. Yet, if people would only pay attention to our history, they would see that according to Gurmat, it is not the job of the one being served to accept the Seva, but of the Sevadaar to try to please whomever they are serving. Only with this Sharda is Seva parvaan.

The sakhi of Mata Ganga Jee is the perfect example of this. When Mata Jee went to serve a meal to Baba Buddha Jee the first time, she was duly rejected. Howeved, Guru Sahib advised not to be disheartened, and to go before Baba Jee with humility and serve them what they liked in a manner that they preferred, i.e. with Nimrata. Just from following this advice, Mata Jee's Seva was not only made kabool,  but the fruits of this simple act were unspeakably tremendous (giving birth to Guru Jee).

Those complaining about Bibekis who won't eat from people who are dhillay in rehit should take lesson from this Sakhi. If those individuals really have that much pyaar and sharda,  shouldn't  they fix their dhills so that Gursikhs will accept their Seva?
