The bits and pieces written by Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee on Bhai Atma Singh in Ranglay Sajjan, is the different Bhai Atma Singh. That Bhai Atma Singh is known as Bhai Atma Singh Moga. He was very senior to Bhai Atma Singh Panjokhra Sahib.
Bhai Atma Singh Moga was from Moga city and became very close to Bhai Sahib. This is from pre-1915 era of Bhai Sahib's life. Bhai Atma Singh jee Moga was a Gurmukh of high spiritual states but for some reason Bhai Sahib and Bhai Atma Singh jee got separated but when Bhai Sahib got implicated in the Lahore Consipiracy case in 1915, Bhai Atma Singh jee Moga worked tirelessly for Bhai Sahib and other Singhs who were arrested by police. Not much else is known about his life.
Bhai Atma Singh Panjokhra Sahib walayBhai Atma Singh jee Panjokhra came to life of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee after 1930 i.e. after Bhai Sahib's release from jail. Bhai Atma Singh jee belonged to a Puratan family of Sarblohis. Bhai Atma Singh Panjokhra Sahib was a very Zabardast Singh who attained very high spiritual state because of his association with Bhai Sahib.
Bhai Atma Singh was very much in favour of Kanth Kirtan and was very vexed by lack of respect for Pothi while doing Kirtan. In his later years, he was severely snubbed by some Jatha Singhs who did not like his opposition of doing Kirtan by placing Pothi Sahib on the Vaaja. As a result, Singhs of Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and other cities of Malwa region, who were in association with Bhai Atma Singh jee started doing kirtan purely from Kanth i.e. no Pothi Sahib was allowed in Kirtan.
Singhs who had the good fortune of doing Sangat with Bhai Atma Singh jee tell many tales of his Chardi Kala. If Bhai Atma Singh used to say a Bachan even unwittingly, it always used to come true. Bhai Sahib used to get up around 1:30am or so and as soon as he got up, Siri Sukhmani Sahib paath used to run automatically in his Surthee. Within 16 minutes his Siri Sukhmani Sahib used to complete. After Ishnaan, he used to stay merged in Naam while doing Nitnem and other Baanees. He normally used to conclude his Amritvela with Kirtan of Siri Asa kee Vaar.
Bhai Sahib Atma Singh was a very great Akhand Paathi. He pretty much had whole of Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee Kanth. Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee used to call Bhai Atma Singh jee "Pothi" because during Kirtan if anyone forgot a Gurbani Pankiti, Bhai Atma Singh jee used to be able to tell the next Pankiti. Bhai Sahib could do Kirtan for hours, from memory.
Many Gursikhs became accomplished Kanth Kirtanis through the Ashirvaad of Bhai Atma Singh jee. Many became great Akhand Paathis through their association with Bhai Sahib. This is the benefit of doing Sangat of Gurmukhs.
A Singh narrated his personal experience as follows. This Singh was working in Indian army when in a jeep accident, a death occurred. He too was injured in the accident. He was suspended and sent home. Subsequently, his court martial was done, he was terminated and jail sentence for him was ordered. Before all this happened, he approached Bhai Atma Singh jee. This Singh was very close to Bhai Atma Singh jee and he did benti to Bhai Sahib for help. Bhai Sahib was in his divine colours that day since it was the Nagar Kirtan day. He did not give any attention towards this Singh. The Singh was a bit disappointed. He had received a letter from military to show up. The Singh knew that he would be imprisoned. At the end of the day, Bhai Sahib performed Ardaas, requesting Guru Sahib to help His child (the Fauji Singh) in the time of distress.
The Fauji Singh was now totally relieved because Bhai Sahib had peformed an Ardaas. The Singh showed up in the Army office but he was arrested and a decision was given against this Singh. He was terminated and imprisoned. The Singh could not believe what had happened. But sooner than later, out of no where, the decision was overturned in the light of some additional facts. The Singh was released from jail and he received full pension as a result of his service in Army. Such is the power of Ardaas of a pure Gursikh.
There are countless examples of Bhai Atma Singh's Chardi Kala and spiritual powers. When I go to India, I intend to gather these stories and write them. Guru Sahib kirpa karan.
