Once felt to be a pride in 1925 turned out to be a blunder

Daas was skimming through TSGA-1925 to find out if there is such a provision for post of Jathedaar Sri Akaal Takhat to be mentioned in any clause. So far couldn't find such provision rather there is mentioning of ministers. I don't know if Jathedaar is appointed as a minister? Does anyone has some information in this matter?

This is what mentioned:

136. Appointment of minister and officeholders.—
(1) If after the commencement of this Act any vacancy occurs in an office connected with a Notified Sikh Gurdwara, whether by reason of the death, dismissal or resignation of the officeholder or for any other reason the committee of the gurdwara may appoint any person who, in its opinion is qualified for the office to fill the vacancy; provided that if the last holder of the office was a hereditary officeholder who had not before the vacancy occurred received compensation under the provisions of section 20, and there is a presumptive successor of such last officeholder
who desires to be appointed and has not received compensation under the provisions of section 20 the committee shall appoint such presumptive successor unless, in its opinion, he has not been properly ordained or his moral character is such as to render him unsuitable or his education has not been sufficient to render him fit for appointment.
(2) If any presumptive successor claims to be appointed to fill a vacancy in accordance with the provisions of subsection (1) and the committee rejects his claim, he may unless the committee is the Board acting as a committee under the provisions [234][* * *] of section 85, within thirty days of the date of such rejection, appeal to the Board and the decisions of the Board shall be final.

After skimming through this document one can say without any doubt that The SIkh Gurudwara Act was just an another blunder. This was drafted without the vision in light of Gurmat and neglecting Sikhi interests at top. Many Akaali leaders at that time praised this act as a big achievement of the time but now it well known to many Sikhs that it was yet another blunder.

Dass heard that Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Jee was against to accept this act for Sikhs. After skimming through this document Daas salute million times to Bhai Sahib for not agreeing with this. Many contemporary Akaalis praised then Governor of Panjab. One of them stated that, “Sir Malcolm Hailey gave us more than what was demanded or what we ever dreamed of demanding. He gave us solutions for future problems of any type that might arise………..It does not make any difference if he did it in the interests of his Government.”

What an overstatement this was! On the other hand the Governor used a CHALAAKI (strategy) which indeed was in line with divide and rule policy of GORA government. This Governor’s strategy about Sikh psyche was quite evident from his remarks, “Why delay the bill and let the Government get the blame. Give it to them and also their Gurdwaras. They will then quarrel among themselves and the Government shall be free to do something else.”

And that's what exactly resulted in. This Gora governor was more visionary than what Akaalis at that were. They completely failed to understand Government policies. Now SGPC is a totally defunct body for Sikhi cause and created chaos among the Sikhs.

May Guru Sahib save us from yet another Ghalughara and enlighten us in this turmoil time.
