Someone asked me, "In our religion it is a sin if a Muslim does not do Namaaz. If someone is not a Muslim then it is not haraam or sin. A Muslim should know that if he doesn't read Namaaz five times a day he will go to hell.... In your religion is it a sin if someone doesn't do their prayers? Is it only a sin for baptized [Amritdhari] Sikhs or is it a sin for all Sikhs?"
It it is the first time I have been asked such a thing. I just replied, "Sin is to forget God. And to remember God is the greatest virtue. It doesn't matter who you are or what religion you are."
I started to think afterward how we read Gurbani out of love, pyaar, dedication to Guru, and longing for self-improvement and wishing to get closer to Akaal Purkh, and how it is not out of fear or not wanting to go to hell. Vaheguru.
