That is a very serious matter about the drainage system around Harminder Sahib. During the times of building of Harminder Sahib by Guru Sahib; the area around was not as much concrete floored. All around, their was much scope for seepage of rain water. Even the parkarma, had the scope of seepage, if there are bricks. With so many multistorey rest houses and hotels and markets all around; the area needs a much bigger drainage system. Of late, a dream project of badal family, to construct a big underground market and offices etc in front of the main entrance, is almost halfway. That is proposed to add to the beauty of the place. But I doubt if there was a serious planning done about drainage and to handle situations like this of heavy rainfall. Showers like this week were not a surprise for Amritsar people earlier. That rainfall should serve as a warning to SGPC and the Government.
