ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਤੋਤੇ

ਇਕ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਦਰਖਤ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਤਪ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਰਖਤ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੋਤੇ ਰਹੰਦੇ ਸਨ | ਉਸ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਪੰਛੀ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਵਰ ਪਕੜਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ | ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਆਇਆ ਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕੀ ਮੇਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ “ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਆਇਗਾ, ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾਇਗਾ, ਦਾਣਾ ਪਾਇਗਾ ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀ ਫਸਣਾ" | ਤੋਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਜਲਦੀ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਸਿਖ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਜੰਗਲ ਤੋਂ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ | ਤੋਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਪੜਾਇਆ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ | ਥੋੜੇ ਸਮੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਤੋਤੇ ਪਕੜਨ ਆਇਆ ਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਦਾਣੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ | ਤੋਤੇ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪੜਾਇਆ ਪਾਠ ਪੜਦੇ ਪੜਦੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਦਾਣਾ ਚੁਗਣ ਆ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਗਏ |

ਇਸ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਜਰੂਰ ਦਿਓ:

E.g. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਓੰਕੀ ਇਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਜਾਚ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ | ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਮਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਆਪ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਮਨ ਇਕਾਗਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ |

"Mechanical repetition of gurbani" has been criticized, by many "so called" comrade/communist writers. Gursikh writers including Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji, have rejected their writings and hypothesis. I am afraid, the above "moral" of the story may sound like that.

It is logical to say that by simply repeating some chant, parrots could not/will not escape the trap thrown by hunter. And we sikhs also need to read GURBANI with bibek budh.

Yet, repetition of GURBANI is going to save us, whether we understand it or not. Understanding is not must. Repetition is must. Even without understanding Gurbani (or AKALPURAKH), we can get in love with it. And LOVE is much more important than understanding.

The writers who believe that "Gurbani should be understood" criticize Naam and try their own matt to understand Gurbani which will do Anarth.

Some writers who were in favor or "just blindly repeating Gurbani" also didn't focus on importance of Naam thus not understand the tatt of Gurbani.

I believe Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh and other Gursikhs did mention that one should do Naam Japp which would give matt to understand Gurbani and live life according to it. So repetition of Naam is a must along with Gurbani with focus to understand its meaning and live accordingly. Repetition of Gurbani without Naam doesn't help.
