LUDHIANA: An unemployed youth allegedly threw a shoe towards Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal at a function in Isru of Khanna about fifty kilometers from here.
The youth, identified as Vikram Singh, is a resident of Dhanaula in Barnala. Sources said that chief minister had come to attend the death anniversary of Karnail Singh Isru, a freedom fighter of the village when the youth hurled shoe towards him but missed the target.
They added that youth had also raised slogans 'Inquilab Zindabad' before he was arrested by police. Police officials said that youth was perhaps upset with unemployment. Though the youth claimed to have deep respect for Prakash Singh Badal but he acted this way to register his anger of being unemployed, told the police officials.
Even as SSP Khanna Harsh Bansal couldn't be reached for his comments despite repeated phone calls but DIG Ludhiana Range confirmed that the incident had happened. "I don't have the details about the incidents", DIG told TOI over phone.
