[wh.gov] || Stop Obama From Hosting Modi At White House || 100,000 Signatures Needed By August 20.

While Obama administration and PM office is preparing to forge a new era of Indo-US economic ties, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has initiated a social media campaign in support of its petition to cancel Modi's invitation to the White House. US President Obama has invited PM Modi for a meeting at the White House on September 30.

A Facebook advertisement "Sign Petition Stop Obama from hosting Modi {Netanyahu of India}. Don't fund another Israel" sponsored by SFJ has gone viral getting scores of hits every hour.

On July 21, SFJ initiated an online petition to the Obama Administration urging to cancel the invitation to PM Modi for his role in 2002 massacre of Muslims in Gujarat. “In June 1984, the BJP instigated the military attack on the Golden Temple, resulting in the massacre of thousands of Sikh pilgrims. In 2008, the BJP orchestrated violence against Christians in Orissa,” the petition alleges.

The Facebook ad by rights group targeting Muslims, Sikhs and human rights organizations in the United States urges them to "Sign Petition, Stop Obama".

“The fact that world's largest democracy has elected a Prime Minister whose party is known for committing crimes against religious minorities should be a matter of grave concern for the western world”, stated attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun legal advisor to SFJ, “United States which has acknowledged the role of Modi in massacre of Muslims should not host him at the White House”, added Pannun.

Terming Modi as Netanyahu of India, attorney Pannun further stated that online petition will be an eye opener for Obama Administration which is ignoring the track record of Modi and his party BJP with regard to treatment of minorities for vested US economic interests.

"Instead of hosting Modi at White House, President Obama should condemn Modi and ban BJP for perpetrating violence against Muslims, Sikhs and Christirans" says the White House Petition.

So far the online petition urging Obama administration to cancel Modi's invitation has received more than 1200 signatures. The petition requires 100,000 signatures by August 20 to qualify for a response by the White House.

How many petitions have been signed in the past? Numerous. I personally see no point of these online petitions anymore. It bears no fruit in my opinion. It has been 30 years since the plea for some sort of "justice" began, but has it really bore any fruit. I personally see it as a waste of time and a means of looking stupid. This is my rigid opinion.

The importance of India for USA and other countries as a partner for trade and commerce is greater than what a common person might know. Expecting that visit of Modi can be influenced by any such petition is childish. This is world affairs, not a municipality level thing.

VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Important point: "The petition requires 100,000 signatures by August 20 to qualify for a response by the White House."

Many Sikhs who make these petitions and do demonstrations outside of Indian embassies etc. know that it will not affect an instant change. Rather, it serves the purpose to document that our voice was never silenced and that when the Sikhs ever DO get a platform to air out their grievances and wield enough power to influence the world powers, they can point to a long history or raising their voice and make their case more solid.

This one in particular could be really interesting, given that Modi was recognized as a dubious figure by the U.S. previous to his winning the elections and now is being courted due to economic ties. It would be enlightening if this petition actually got the 100k signatures to witness what sort of response the White House produces - at minimum, it serves as a thermometer for the White House's approach will be India. This is crucially important, as the prevailing opinion is that Modi sarkar will be around for some time in India and the current initiatives could set the tone for a decade or more.

These petitions are a good way to raise awareness and let others know that Sikhs have not forgotten their past but in terms of achieving justice and freedom, these methods are simply futile. Without religious awakening, there can be no progress and no movement can begin within the Sikh nation. Parchaar of Gurmat, community outreach, interfaith dialogue, forming a Sikh political party, restructuring Gurdwara management, instilling love for Punjabi, Gurbani and Sikh values, starting Punjabi and Sikh classes in educational institutions etc.. are some of the key points we should be looking into. Instead of wasting money on building large structures, funds should be used to start Khalsa schools. PhD programs should be sponsored so that young Sikhs could get their degrees in Gurmat and then be hired at Gurdwaras for $4k-5k a month. This would ensure that our future generations get ready to build a home for the Panth. Petitions, marches, peaceful protests or holding candles won't get us anywhere. Again, such tactics are only good for raising awareness but ineffective when our own people are in slumber.

Bijla Singh Jee has made good points. A true Shardanjali to 84 Shaheeds is for Sikhs to read more Gurbani, keep more rehit, read more Gurmat literature by Gurmukh pyare so one can gain Gurmat Gian. No use building huge structures of buildings if our youth are all Monay Ghonay and don't practice Sikhi.

First of all, This petition is about massacres happened in India with Sikhs, Muslims and Christians.
With shortage of time, I mistakenly posted it with wrong heading. lets make it clear now.

I agree with veer bijla singh. Our people need to wake up and get baptized and focus more on enhancing our inner selves. Jaap more of Naam and start living life as a Sikh with dignity. It's very sad when we see more of Monnay youth and take it as a shame to keep Kesh.

However, the success of current petition is very very crucial. we need to reach the almost 76,000 signatures, as of now, to support this awareness and bring it to the knowledge of United states. At this point, Our goal is to bring awareness and perhaps succeed with getting Modi's visit denied.

Lack of Parchar is on our side, otherwise this petition initiates a stage for Sikhs, muslims and Christians to stand together and turn out as a great power to fight for justice (Fight - not seek justice!) for massacres in India.

I wanna make a point clear here, Petition, in my opinion, is a way of asking when Guru Pita ji says " First I would request the evil to stop their feet, if he doesn't stop, then it is required to Hallall him".

There is a huge difference between a petition to United states- a sign of peace and fighting for justice, than a plea to indian congress - would be actuall begging for justice. But its not. we are fighting for justice with new era approach and on international level.

Again, everyone got their different opinions but regardless, when Panth is asking you for your support, everyone is expected to their best.

Please do sign & share it again!
thanks
Dass
