Sant Gurbachan Singh's Dedication to Rehat

Posted by gsingh
This story is told in a Katha by Sant Kartar Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale.

Sant Gurbachan Singh his entire life had been dedicated to keeping his Panj Kakkars on his body at all times. When his body got old he had a hard time doing ishnaan by himself so Sant Kartar Singh would help him. When he would do Ishnaan he would tie his gatra around his head, one time Sant Kartar Singh was handing him his smaller Kirpan that he wore when he did Ishnaan and Sant Gurbachan Singh was handing him his bigger one, for a split second Sant Gurbachan Singh lost contact with his Kirpan and right at that moment he quickly grabbed his Kirpan from Sant Kartar Singh and he stared crying. He said Guru Sahib has said to never remove the Panj Kakkars, there is no excuse to ever remove them. He quickly went into Darbar Sahib and asked the Sangat to quickly get Panj Singhs together to give him Tankhaah; he would not eat or drink anything until he had gotten his Tankhaah. Panj Singhs got together and give him Tankhaah of doing 5 Jap Jee Sahib Paats from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee’s Saroop. Sant Gurbachan Singh told the Sangat that if we do not have the Rehat of Panj Kakkars then we have nothing. Sant Kartar Singh says those that take off their Kakkars should learn something from this story.

This story is beautiful. Total dedication to Gurmat and Guru Sahib’s Bachans by Sant Gurbachan Singh, a true Sant.
