various terms in Gurbani referring to Brahmin

Posted by Mehtab Singh
Guru Sahib has used different terms to denote "Brahmin" in Gurbani, for example "bahman", brahm", "brahman", "pandit", "pandiyan", "bip", "bipr". and then in Dasam Bani we find "dijj" and "misr" as well. There might be a number of other terms besides these I've mentioned as these are all I can think of. It is worth noting that Hindu surnames like "Pandit" and "Misra" or "Mishra" originate from these same words Pandir and Misr. Interestingly, these terms are also used in other historic references from the times of Guru Sahibaan.

Can anyone please do some veechaar as to why so many varieties of words are used by Guru Sahib. Are there different denominations/sects of Brahmins that are being specifically referred to in the context of those corresponding Shabads?

Thanks
