Fasting

Many religions practice fasting. Recently the Muslims completed their fast for their annual celebration " Eid Mubarak " . What does Gurmat say on Fasting?

One who discards this grain, is practicing hypocrisy.
She is neither a happy soul-bride, nor a widow.
Those who claim in this world that they live on milk alone,
secretly eat whole loads of food. ||3||
Without this grain, time does not pass in peace.
Forsaking this grain, one does not meet the Lord of the World.

Giani Pinderpal Singh Ji has said something wonderful about fasting which he has copied from Prem Sumarg Granth.
Aapniya'n Akhaa'n Naal Maarha Na Vekhe..
Aapne Kanna Naal Maarha Na Sune..
Aapne Mukh Toh Fika Na Bole..
Apne Man Vich Maarhe Furne Na Banaaye..
Eh Vrat Preet Ban Jaaye..
-Giani Pinderpal Singh Ji..

Not allowing your eyes to see bad
Not allowing your hears to hear bad
Not allowing your mouth to speak harsh words
Not allowing the mind to think bad thougts
This is the fast which develops love for God.

May Waaheguru bless us with the true fast.

I personally, feel that this Gurbani may not be for Ladies who keep fast.

One who discards this grain, is practicing hypocrisy.
She is neither a happy soul-bride, nor a widow.

Reasons for my assertion:

Ladies do not keep fast to meet Gopal
They do not seemingly do it in hypocracy always. They may be in ignorance, but they are not hypocrats.
Being ਦੂਧਾਧਾਰੀ, is different from being on fast for some hours.

Your views please.

Veer Ji I do not think the pauri is referring to women instead the pangti is referring to the jeev atma. . One who has met their groom through Gurmat is a sohaganee ,but one who tries to reach their groom through their own mat is a dohaganee and they do all kinds of dispalys( dikhava) of Bhagti;thus, they are pakhandis.

In referring to this pangti Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh JI has mentioned how Gurmukhs soley rely on Gurmat Naam but this doesn't mean they renounce food they renounce the pleasure of food in lieu for the pleasure of Naam which destroys desire for pleasurable foods while those outside of Gurmat try to reach God through false displays such as fasting .
