A very pertinent Gurbani Pankiti has come to mind after reading your question:
8॥1॥(If a Sikh does Dhyaan on Naam, then he is pleasing to Satguru and then he gets whatever he wishes for. Guru Sahib is saying that, he owns everything, if he sheds Haume from within).
In order to Japp Naam, one has to obtain Naam. In order to obtain Naam, one has to chhak Amrit. In order to chhak Amrit, one has to agree to keep Rehit e.g. Kakaars, Amritvela etc. So the bottom line is to chhak Amrit, keep full Rehit and indulge in some serious Naam Abhyaas and Gurbani Paath/Kirtan. Then alone one can be pleasing to Guru Sahib.
