Santhiya - Siri Sukhmani Sahib

By the Kirpa of Guru Sahib, Santhiya of Siri Sukhmani Sahib has been started. So far 4 Ashtpadis have been completed and uploaded at the link below.

Gurbani is Agam Agaadh Bodh. Outwardly, Siri Sukhmani Sahib seems easy but it's quite complex at times. 4 Ashtpadis have resulted in 19 pages of Santhiya and it seems like full Santhiya will have close to 200 pages which will be hard to do proof-read at one time. So Sangat is requested to proof-read and point out mistakes, omissions and typos as soon as possible, so that the file may be finalized.

I would like to ask why in the last few santhiya documents (Arti, Asa ki Vaar & Sukhmani Sahib) a tippi is being recommended instead of a bindi when the last letter is a haha with a sihari (ਹਿ)?

For example:
ਸਿਮਰਹਿੰ instead of ਸਿਮਰਹਿਂ
ਮਹਿੰ instead of ਮਹਿਂ
ਮਾਹਿੰ instead of ਮਾਹਿਂ

Please could you explain? I do not understand this. Does this not makes ucharan sound like simarh(ng) mehi(ng)?

Tippee and Bindi are both nasal sounds but it depends on the Maatra as to whether to use a Tippee or a Bindi. The rule of the language is that Tippee is used for the following vowels:

1. Mukta
2. Sihaari (e.g. ਸਿੰਘ, ਵਿੰਗ, ਲਿੰਕ)
3. Aunkad
4. Dulankay

Bindi is used for the following vowels:

1. Bihaari
2. Laav
3. Dulaava
4. horra
5. Kanorra

The sound is nasal in both cases.

I too noticed what Trust Singh noticed and thought this was a typo. It still looks odd having ਹਿੰ instead of ਹਿਂ etc..
Aside from that, I have a few queries about ucharan of the shabads in red:

1) ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ, ਨੀਚ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਜਾਤੇ || ਚਹੁਂ ??
2) ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਆਇਓ, ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭ, ਸਾਥ ||੧|| In Gurbani, below the ' ਮ ' is an accent, what is the name of this matra and what is ucharan?
3) ਅਨਿਕ ਪੁਨਹਚਰਨ ਕਰਤ, ਨਹੀ ਤਰੈ || Is the 'ਹ' pronounced with kanna?
4) ਜਿਹ ਪੈਡੈ, ਮਹਾ ਅੰਧ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ || Possible typo? Ucharan for this is written as ਪੈਂਡੇ instead of ਪੈਂਡੈ
5) ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਿ, ਦੁਰਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਨਸੈ || ਨਸ਼ੈ ?

It's called Halant. Many scholars suggest that the alphabet with Halant should be pronounced with a bit zor like Adhak.

In year 2001, while standing in the Langar hall of Weston Gurdwara Sahib, I had a long discussion with Late Bhai Jagtar Singh jee, on these two Pankitis. The Bishraams decided after this Vichaar were as follows:

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ, ਜਨ ਕੈ ਮਾਲੁ ਖਜੀਨਾ
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ, ਜਨ ਕੈ ਓਟ ਸਤਾਣੀ ॥

The reasons why the Bishraams suggested by you were not done are as follows:

1. The words ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ together denote Gurmat Naam Abhyaas. This Ashtpadi, the previous one and the next one, talk about greatness of Naam. So, it is better to keep ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ together so as to derive the meaning of Naam Abhyaas.

2. ਹਰਿਜਨ or just ਜਨ, either way the meaning is Sevak of Vaheguru. Even if we don't include ਹਰਿ with ਜਨ, still the meaning of ਜਨ, stays the same. So, there is no need to separate ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ, when the meaning of ਜਨ does not change.

Baaki, Gurbani Agam Agaadh Bodh hai jee.
