Let's do Vichaar on the 39th Pauri of the Great Baani - Siri Oankaar Sahib.
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਸੈ ਕਊਆ ॥
ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਾ ਅਬ ਕਿਆ ਹੂਆ ॥
ਫਾਥਾ ਚੋਗ ਚੁਗੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਆਖੀ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਫਾਥੀ ਜਮ ਜਾਲਿ ॥
ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਦਾਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
ਇਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਚੈ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
ਇਵ ਛੂਟੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਾਸ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੩੯॥Humble Translation: Again and again the Black crow gets stuck in the trap and then it regrets but then what can be done by regretting after the fact? Imprisoned the Jeev (like a crow) is engaged in finding food and does not understand what's going on or how to get out but when the Jeev meets the Satguru, then it sees with his own eyes as to how to get free (emancipated). Like a fish that is caught by the hunter, same way the Jeev has been caught in the noose of death. Don't expect to be set free without Guru Sahib. Without the Guru, the Jeev comes and goes in this world again and again. When through the Guru, the Jeev stays absorbed in One Vaheguru and stays in Samadhi, then alone the Jeev gets released and does not get stuck in the trap of Maya again.
Vichaar: Once the Jeev gets stuck in this world, then it is not in the control of the Jeev to get out of this trap. Only when, because of great fortune, the Jeev meets the Satguru, it understands that it is trapped. Getting released from this world is a very far-fetched aim, without Satguru jee, the Jeev does not even realize that it's trapped.
In one of his wonderful articles titled - Baba Vaid Rogiaan da - Bhai Sahib has written a very interesting thought. He writes that all the residents of this world are sick i.e. diseased and Siri Guru Nanak Dev jee the divine Vaid (doctor) has come to cure the humanity of its disease. Normally, if one is diseased, he is eager to go to a doctor to get healed but the problem with the residents of this world is that even though they are diseased, they don't realize that they are sick. This makes the function of the Divine Vaid - Siri Guru Nanak Dev jee - double-fold i.e. to not only cure the Jeevs of their disease but also to first educate them that they are diseased. The funny thing is that only a fraction of Jeevs actually believe that they are diseased and for this reason don't flock to Guru Sahib for getting healed.
In Gurbani Guru Sahib has made it clear that everyone is diseased and only the Satguru is without disease:
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸੋ ਰੋਗੀ ॥
ਰੋਗ ਰਹਿਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥(Everyone you see is Rogi (diseased). Without disease is my Satguru Jogi alone).
Gurbani is both the educating material and the medicine. Fortunate ones hear Guru Sahib's message in Gurbani and realize that they are diseased and they immediately cry out for help. When the Jeev realizes how badly he is entrapped in this enchanted world, he chants Naam with the required urgency which sets him free.
May Guru Sahib release us from the bonds of Maya and heal us of the diseases that we have been inflicted with, for ages.
