Sant Teja Singh Jee on Swas Swas Naam Abhiyaas Jugti

Posted by harinder_singh
Sant Teja Singh wrote the following in his biography of Sant Attar Singh:

The method of reciting naam has been passed down from gursikh to gursikh. But this daas has only seen it written in two places.
1. In Sau Sakhi its says that Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj tells Mata Jeetho Ji that the tip of the tounge with force should touch the roof of the mouth ( and at all times keep saying Waheguru Waheguru.
2. Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh, the one who sat and listened to the recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by Sri Guru Gobind Singh himself, in Bhai Gurdas Ji's 'yarwee waar' in 'sheeha thay gajan dee sakhee', has written that when our breath goes in we should say 'Wahe' and when our breath goes out we should say 'guru'"

In Prem Sumarag Granth it is written:

"oupar saas naabh tay "vaah" say layvai, ar talay kaa saas "guru" say chhoDay. Vahiguru daa jap karai."

Sant Teja Singh did great service to Panth by writing the life-sketch of Sant Attar Singh jee Mastuanewale. Sant Attar Singh jee used to do Swaas Swaas Simran and this is written in his biography written by Sant Teja Singh.

Maybe a stupid question but is prem more important than technique or can the tecnhique eventually build prem?

I would say first thing is Prem and that would lead one to Guru Sahib who would then bestow Naam and the technique to chant Naam. But Prem too comes from Vaheguru and no one can create Prem. It's a gift from Vaheguru.

Kulbir Singh Ji,

Thanks for the answer. I also agree that the Prem is developed through Gurparsad and personally think it is more important than the method.
