Bhai Sahib and the Radhasoami Guru - Sawan Singh

Posted by Kulbir Singh
The story goes as follows. The Radhasoami guru - Sawan Singh was a resident of the village Mahimasingh wala which is very close to Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee's village Narangwal. Both villages lie in district Ludhiana. For this reason both knew each other quite well. Once Bhai Sahib heard Sawan Singh doing katha of the half-pankiti ... 2॥ as follows:

(O Bhai, burn the Haume roopi Shabad)

Bhai Sahib who happened to be there when Sawan Singh said the above, could not restrain himself after hearing such gross violation of Gurbani understanding and viyakaran. Bhai Sahib got up and asked, (Is there such a shabad called Haume?).

Hearing Bhai Sahib interrupt him, he got very agitated and in anger said to Bhai Sahib, "ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੀ ਇਥੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਕਥਾ ਕਰ ਲਵੋ।" (why don't you come here and do katha).

Bhai Sahib replied back telling him not to get upset but to look to see if the word ਸਬਦਿ has a sihaari in the end. Responding to this Sawan Singh said, "ਲਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ।" (Yes it does have a sihaari in the end. So what happened?)

Bhai Sahib said, "ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਅਰਥ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।" (Nothing happened but meanings have become clear)

He asked, "ਉਹ ਕੀ?" (And what are the meanings?)

" (Through the Shabad, burn the Haume)

Bhai Sahib gave more Gurbani Pankitis to support these meanings and the whole sangat sitting there agreed with Bhai Sahib. Sawan Singh felt very embarrassed

The above is quite funny, if you read it in Punjabi.

At another instance before the partition of India, Bhai Sahib was visiting Abtabad a city in present day Pakistan. Incidently Sawan Singh too was visiting that town. Sawan Singh was residing in a double storey house that caught fire. Sawan Singh got stuck upstairs. While people were trying to rescue Sawan Singh, Bhai Sahib started joking with Sawan Singh reminding him of his statements in Katha. While doing katha, Sawan Singh had said that one who is engrossed in Shabad, fire can't burn him, water can't drown him. He had said this while doing katha of a Gurbani shabad. Bhai Sahib jokingly told him, not to worry since fire could not burn him. At this Sawan Singh asked Bhai Sahib to stop joking and try to extinguish fire and rescue him.

It is unfortunate that both Baba Jaimal Singh and Sawan Singh were born in the households of Sikhs but chose to become followers of a religion founded by tobacco-smoking Shiv Dyal of UP. How can a Sikh become a follower of a tobacco-smoking person? If they had stayed in Sikhi, they could have contributed so much to Sikhi but they did so much damage to Sikhi in Punjab. Not only the Radhasoami Beas dera but the troublesome Sacha (Jhootha) Sauda Dera in Sirsa too is an off shoot of this sect.

Noormahalias of Ashutosh are also an off shoot of the Radhasoami beas. Shiv Dayal was not only a Huqqa smoker but also a Tobacco and Paan chewer. When he would spit out his Paan on the ground, his followers would quarrel amongst each other on who would get to lick his spitted out paan on the ground. They keep their meditation technique very secret. They do meditation by sitting the quat position and cover their eyes with their thumbs and cover their ears with with fingers. The natural sound that every human being hears in the head, they call that Anhad Shabad. Their secret Mantra consists of five words:

"jot niranjan, onkar, rarankar, sohung, sat nam"

While saying this, they imagine the photo graph of their current Guru in their mind. It is not a divine religion at all. It is a manmade religion. While Shiv Dayal wrote his own bani called Saar Bachan, yet Radhasoamis insists on quoting from Gurbani instead of Saar Bachan. This they do to fool Sikhs of Punjab who have Shardhaa for Gurbani. All the Radhasoami Gurus also keep long flowing beards, they also do this to fool Sikhs of Punjab because they know that Sikhs have Satkaar for a man with along flowing beard.

Guru Piyare jio,

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh

This incident clearly shows that how much these sects are spiritually advanced if there leader have such level. I think people of Panjab are either not well informed about Sikhi or they can not maintain Sikhi because of strict value system, so they shop around to look for alternatives. Even within Sikh fold daas witnessed the same criteria people who can not keep the Rehat Rehni as per Khaday de Pahul of Sri Guru Gobind Singh those people just shop around and where ever they find Amrit on sale they go to those camps. Distributing Amrit in glasses by a sect with in Sikh fold is the good example. Most of the people goes to town of Biaas where the Dera is situated because of they can get coke at cheap price (about 50 paiseਪੈਸੇ 15 years ago) along with other food stuff and other thing is medical is free or on cheap price. For these two major reasons daas found out people are attractive to Dera Biaas and top of that they get the so called Naam in the ear. These are the things which general public look for is cheaper food and free medical. Although both institutions were very well established since Guru Sahib's time, Langer and medical care were provided to general public by Guru Sahibs them selfs. Guru Harkrishan Jee cured the entire city of Delhi at one point in history of India. But presently bacause Sikhs could not keep the medical and other area (i.e. Education) well maintained at large so general public is attracted to cheaper stuff. Bhai sahib jee daas have to agree with you if those persons Jaimel Singh and Sawan Singh had come to Sikhi fold with strict Khanday de Pahul then they could have much better influence on Sikh sangat rather than becoming the part of tobacco-smoking person.

With Regrads,
Jasjit Singh

GSC733 jeeo, I too heard that Ashutosh group too is an offshoot of Radhasoami sect but wasn't sure about it.
