The only thing which prevents us from engaging in full naam abhyiaas is the panj doot/maya.
When Naam Abhyiaas is in full vigor it is known as using Naam Khanda, beating the nagara, waving the
jhanda/Nishan Sahib. Its a sign of victory in the battle against the negative forces.
ਗਗਨ ਦਮਾਮਾ ਬਾਜਿਓ ਪਰਿਓ ਨੀਸਾਨੈ ਘਾਉ ॥
ਖੇਤੁ ਜੁ ਮਾਂਡਿਓ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਅਬ ਜੂਝਨ ਕੋ ਦਾਉ ॥੧॥
When we fight and overcome these forces Naam Abhyiaas goes in full vigor, and we begin to realize our true
selves and eventually WaaheGuru. But we have to go through intense fighting to get to this stage. The same
way Guru Sahib describes Indra ( mind) using naam to battle his ego ( Mahakishr) and regain his kingdom ( atma).
