He's fortunate; she's fortunate; but who's really fortunate

I heard the following from different individuals at different times:

1. "I must have done charity of Suchay Moti (jewels) that I have such a good wife. I am very fortunate".

2. "He's lucky that his parents have so much money. He doesn't have to work. He's very fortunate".

3. "She's so beautiful. She's very fortunate".

4. "He's so tall and strong. He's very fortunate".

5. "She's very intelligent. She's so fortunate".

One thing common in all of the above sentences is that an individual is being called "fortunate'. We too normally call someone lucky or fortunate for worldly reasons.

Siri Guru Panchmesh Pita jee in Siri Sukhmani Sahib has declared who really is lucky or fortunate:

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਸੇਇ ॥੮॥੧੩॥
(On whom He does Kirpa and gives Naam, such individuals alone are fortunate).

Beauty of the body is temporary and will be lost over time. Worldly wealth is no one's faithful and will leave the individual one day. Good parents, siblings, children or spouse are separated at one point and don't always stay with the Jeev. Intelligence is also not faithful and is lost in many circumstances. It is only Naam that stays with us; therefore only such individuals who have been blessed with Naam, are truly fortunate ones.

ਸੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ਸੇਈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ॥
They are very fortunate and honorable; they are complete kings.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਘੜ ਸਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ॥੨॥੧੦॥
They are beautiful, so very wise and handsome; Those who are immersed in the Name of the Lord. ||2||10||

ਸੇਈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੋਹਣੇ ॥
saeee su(n)dhar sohanae ||
They alone are beautiful and attractive,

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨ ਬੈਹਣੇ ॥
saadhhasa(n)g jin baihanae ||
who abide in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਸੰਜਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har dhhan jinee sa(n)jiaa saeee ga(n)bheer apaar jeeo ||3||
Those who have gathered in the wealth of the Lord's Name-they alone are deep and thoughtful and vast. ||3||
