Posted by sevak
rehat pyari mujhko sikh pyara nahi//// To my limited understanding Rehat--means code of conduct///inner cleansing than outer appearance//// please elaborate-thanks.///////////////// Khalsa is the one who enjoys the Atam Ras ////////A Sikh(a student or a disciple) who follows Sri Gur Granth Sahib Ji, who abides by the teachings of the holy book which has scriptures not only of our Gurus but also many other great personalities, saints and poets.////

Khalsa is that who was created on Baisakhi day of 1699 by Guru Gobind Singh ji.

That Khalsa was made to drink Amrit from one bowl and was given rehat by guru
Gobind Singh ji.That rehat resulted in giving organizational structure to Sikhism.
That rehat laid down concept of Guru Panth for advising Sikhs on worldly life.

So Sikhs have guru Granth and guru Panth.

Khalsa was created by Guru Gobind singh jee........to be disciplined to follow certain duties & maintain code of conduct which will lead to be khalas/ pure that by inner cleaning. If one is pure can see Gurus in the mirror. Inner cleansing is tough so most people give solace to their mind that at least looking like one is enough. Controlling 5 vices next to impossible, forgive me as my knowledge is limited.

What does Khalse means here if Guru Gobind Singh Ji created Khalsa on Visaakhi?
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਨ ਭਏ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੩॥

Remember the shabad pragtio khalsa which means Khalsa was there forever and was just pragat on Visaakhi.

In Sikhism there is a procedure wherein a Sikh is initiated in Sikhism. From ist to 9th guru sahibans it was charan Paul.

Guru gobind Singh ji substituted it by khande bate da Amrit. A seeker is given gurumantra and Khalsa code of conduct to follow.
That is what is Khalsa in Sikhism. His journey for spiritual elevation starts from then on.

There are many others who believe in Sri guru Granth sahib teachings but do not believe in Khalsa initiation. Sindhis are an example. They do not keep Sikh rehat.
Such people though claim to follow Sri Guru Granth Sahib cann't be Khalsa. In Sikhism spirituality and adherence to code of conduct are inseparable.Otherwise kala
Afghana cult cite same shabad to to make all and sundry as Khalsa.

There were millions of kabir panthis in India after kabir ji.Has anyone pondered over, where are they now?
All assimilated in Hinudism.

There was no dearth of lofty teachings in India. But did that help society to tame tyranny. Not at all. When invaders
came and took daughters of India to harems of middle east, these holy men saw other side as if they have seen
nothing.

It was khalsa of Guru Gobind singh that blocked khyber pass first time in history. There is a folklore in Punjab which goes like
this

Ran basre nu lai gaye
Mori baba kachh valiya

India's women have been taken To Basra
Bring them back oh Baba kachhwalia( denoting Khalsa that wears long kachha)

Of course the sacrifices of Sikhs is incomparable but does that help meet God? RAJ KAREGA KHALSA...means pure//khalas/// so focus of Gurbani is inner cleaning. God loves all his creation, but who cleanse themselves are merged into truth. Tri gun.....to move to chautha padh.....5 vices has to be controlled by the grace of Guru. (Anger, attachment , Kaam, ego & greed). When I look into mirror, I am sad to say, I failed.

God is within every one of us. We have to realize Him.Sikh way of realizing God is as laid down by Guru sahib.
Sikh way is khalsa way wherein a seeker is administered amrit and given Gurumantra by panj piaras.

Sikhs are not pujaris of muths(Hindu temples) who will do meditation there devoid of suffering of humanity. What good a person's bhagti is if he/she does not participate for good of humanity. Is humanity not God's creation? Of course it is.That is the reason Guru ji created institution of khalsa.
Khalsa demonstrated by sacrifices teachings he learnt from his scriptures.

How do some make an assumption that khalsa who made monumental sacrifices for humanity was not doing meditation himself?
Of course they were leading a life of religion as laid down by Guru sahib.Had they not been, they would have never come forward
to lay down their lives for downtrodden of society sidelined by those who were controlling religious institutions.

In sikhism God relaization is by grace of Guru(gurprasadi). For that we have to follow Guru's way. Guru's way is khalsa way.
Teachings of Guru Granth sahib castigates a person who is administered Gurumantra.

When Guru sahib administered Amrit in 1699, there were quite a few sikhs from Delhi who also became Amritdhari at anandpur sahib.

Kavi sainapat writes in Sri Gursobha that when these sikhs reached Delhi, there was a dispute among baptised sikhs and local delhi sikhs mostly khatri and brahmins who detested baptized sikhs as they had shunned caste system and were intermingling with all. These locals called themselves sikhs but did not want to take Amrit. The dispute led to a strike and matter reached Moghal rulers. They ruled in favour of khalsa as they were true representatives of Guru sahib as they followed his directive.

Now Kavi sainapat was one of court poets of Guru sahib and an Amritdhari sikh himself. He wrote this in Sri Gur shobha complted in 1711 aD.That shows there were those who claim to follow sikh teachings but were not ingraining those in their conduct.

Then there is story of bhai Dalla when he asked for Gurus blessings after death. Guru sahib asked him to be an amritdhari.

There is only one category of sikhs and a sikh should aspire to join that ultimately. That is order of Khalsa. There is no sikhi and identity of a sikh without institution of khalsa.I quote another incident wherein in 1931 census of India large population of Sindh province declared their religion as Sikh. British were surprised and conducted a survey how did it happen. They established that Sindhi Hindus had decaled their religion as sikh. But practiced lives like a Hindu ,did not have kes, smoked cigarettes and observed Hindu practices as bhadar ceremony etc. This is called dooja bhav.

In modern times LK advani BJP leaders declares his religion as sikh. But in practice he is not even though he may be reading Guru Granth sahib.May waheguru bless us to be able to become a khalsa as it is then that we are bestowed with Gurmantra.

Mr Inder Singh jee, I think you are taking this discussion to a different direction. The purpose of the above verse was that after baptizism, once you become Amritdhari Sikh....than in order to become khalsa--- code of conduct or controlling 5 vices & inner cleansing or Rehat--- will make you Khalas. Becoming a Amritdhari Sikh is just the beginning....1% work is done than 99% of work is to cleanse your inner self. I think everyone has lot of respect for people who become Amrtidhari & God loving people don't hate anyone or look down on anyone. If God is in everyone than we are all equal. We are all beggars of Vaheguru.

If you still disagree than please explain the meaning of Rehat pyari mujhko sikh pyara nahim maybe we all will learn from your wisdom & insight

With respect & humility.
