Many of the problems exisitng in Modern-day Punjab is a result of the people turning their back on Sri Guru JI. No doubt there are anti- Sikh elements which are bent on destroying Sikhi in Punjab, but the decadent behavior amongst Punjabis is due to their own apostasy . WHen the people of Punjab start rising early and doing Naam Simran, Nitnem, etc then such problems like alcohol will be eradicated. People may think such simple solutions are not practical, and through the influence of Western methods they feel like setting up counseling facilities or offering other social programs will cure people from the disease of alcohlism.

The rise of alcoholsim is nothing new in Punjab. In the 80's when people were also addicted to Alcohol , Sant Jarnail Singh Ji offered a simple yet very effecitve solution which was renounce alcohol, take amrit, become a Gursikh by following the teachings of Sri Guru JI. The truth of the matter is Sri Guru Ji has given us the cure for all our diseases.
Naam Japo, Naam Japo, Naam Japo!

I personally feel Alcohol is a CURSE everywhere not only in Punjab. Although Punjab is ranked atop in India.
It is really unfortunate to see any Sikh consuming Alcohol.I also feel our elders are equally responsible for this state of affairs.
Every Sikh family should give a serious thought to the consumption of Alcohol first within the Home and then in various functions.
Of course Government too can play a vital Role provided this as revenue source is given no consideration. But this is hard to
happen.
Let us hope that Sikhs understand their GuRoo and follow the messages for leading a clean and good life..This is the only HOPE.
