I am really sorry if dass offends anyone but this is getting a bit too much now and I feel it needs to be said!
Over the past few months I have begun to notice there is a great level of pakhand started by some Keertaneeaa within the Jatha. This is comes to some of the 'really big' Keertaneeaa who think they're superstars. The great thing about Akhand Keertan is that there are no 'superstars', only humble Gursikhs who strive to sing Guroo's Praises. However there are some Keertaneeaa (one particular comes to mind) who will somehow purposly arrive 15 mins before their slot at 'primetime' with their jatha of Singhs. They will just sit there still, look at everyone, flick through Amrit Keertan as if it were the yellow pages and totally ignore the Keertan that is being sung. Then when it is their turn to do Keertan, they will always bring a vaja - as they never ever use the vaja all the other Gursikhs have been using. Then when they sing Bani and starting doing the Guroo Guroo, they will shake their bodys as if they are in some trance - if this is the case, why do they never do this when other Gursikhs are doing Keertan?? The other day dass went to a house programme where this particular Keertanee was invitied, and the tabla player was apparently so much into the Bani, that he had to stop playing Table for 2 mins and just do Simran - whereas when other Gursihks were doing Keertan, he looked so bored he looked like he was going to fall asleep! Guroo Kirpa Kare. Whilst doing Keertan, this Keertanee also said to a Singh "tu japda nahi, oochee bolo" - Which really gives the impression that they only want sangat to sing to their keertan, and dont care for anyone elses. This particular Keertanee also keeps Bana Bibek! - When my Bana touched his Kurta Pajama he stopped playing vaja just to get my Bana away from his!! Once the Keertanee has finally finished, he will sit for 2 mins before heading off. When promoting the event, Singhs will always say "Bhai XXX Singh is coming, Bhai XXX Singh is coming!!!" Surely we should be going for the Keertan NOT the Keertanee???
Dass knows some gupt Keertaneeaa who have such high jeevans, have no hankaar and every time they are blessed with the Seva to do Keertan, they will do an Akaal Ustat when they get home to thank Guroo for the Seva. Why are there not many of Keertaneeaa like this?? There seems to be an uprise of superstar keertanee's who seem to think they are on X Factor!!
When will we start following the Hukams that Jathedar Bhai Bakshish Singh Jee gave and nnot allow these superstars to do Keertan! And allow the humble Gursikhs who have been sitting in the Keertan since the very start, and will not leave before the Ardaas is done! Only when this is done, can Keertan be what it is suppose to, and then can we get full Laha!!
