19 Years


Nineteen years have passed, not a single step towards you I have taken,

Indulged in Kalyugi Forces, My Lord, you’re the one I have forsaken.

Time flies so swiftly, it seems to be moving in fast forward motion,

I haven’t lived up to my promises, drinking your Amrit was like taking any potion.


Forgive me oh creator, for I have forgotten your name.

I’m your piece, move me in the right direction, isn’t this your game?

I’ll bark like a dog if it pleases you, just to get your attention,

Cleanse me, uplift me, hold me close, and grant me redemption.


People beg to have the darshan of your beautiful face; I ask to see your lotus feet,

Washing them, I shall drink that water; I will place your Charan Kamal on a white sheet.

I shall use my hair to cleanse, purify and dust your seating place,

Then I shall gaze upon you, with teary eyes, in this heart, for you I left no space.


With mere mortals in this world, I have found attachment and peace,

I’m proud of my friends and I show them love, for you, I never did the least.

As I sit here scribbling words, I’m reminded of my dark and horrible past,

Bestow you mercy Vaheguroo Jeeo, life is passing by very fast.


The treasure of your Naam and the Company of Gursikhs are the gifts I seek,

The gurmukhs have gotten lost in your colors, I only ask for a small peek.

Nineteen years have passed, not a single step towards you I have taken,
