What is the link between ik onkar and om? Why is it oaNkar (as bhai gurdas jee confirms) and not oMkar? What is the difference being expressed? It is said that om is actually AUM which is: Akar (creator) Ukar (preserver) Makar (destroyer) I have seen Sikhs use this same arth when explaining the meaning of ik onkar which is strange because it is like saying ik onkar and om are the same.by MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Thank you all for your replies. I would also please like to ask bhai kulbir singh ji and others if you could please share a comparison between bhagvad gita and gurmat? The principles in the bhagvad gita are clearly quite good and gurmat also preachers bhagti but I want to know how has Gurmat moved it further? What is being preached as sikhi currently is similar to bhagvad gita matt (keertan, naamby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Similar concepts I found were things like 'brahmjyoti' which seemed really similar to naam pervading the creation/all pervading jot parkash that people see during jot vigaas. Also that they believe all the creation is an expansion of one spiritual planet (like we believe about sachkand). I was very surprised to see that even they acknowledge that baikhunts and heavens are not the highest realmby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
I have been reading about Hare krishnas and have to say I am very impressed with some of their ideas and emphasis on doing naam simran of their own mantar. What is the Gurmat perspective on their religion and beliefs? Also, I found this Hare Krishna account of creation- some of it is similar to sikhi, i.e. vaheguru being in every particle. Can gursikhs please provide a gurmat perspective on tby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Vaheguru jee ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh sadh sangat jee please read this with a kind heart, I really need some help. I am truly in love with Guru Sahib, I feel like I could literally do path all day, however I have quite an issue. I picked a job which I thought would give me time for independent bhagti, however I was sorely mistaken. Due to certain issues I am now working around 12 hourby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum

I would really appreciate advice and help of Gursikhs. You may find this post a bit funny, but I am sure some others must also encounter this. By the grace of Akaal I am trying to minimise distractions and increase abhiyaas, bani etc during free time. One thing that bothers me however is that my mind constantly yearns for more entertainment, I am trying to be attached single-mindedly yet my mby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Recently I have been feeling like I don't enjoy anything but Guru Sahib di sangat, i.e. bani, simran and satsangat, and am finding living in this world more and more excruciating. I am in training for a job at the moment, though I don't feel up to any career, I cannot stand being in this world and doing anything but naam. I cannot do sangat with anyone but gursikhs. If you have such doubt about Bhai Sahib to the extent you think he would follow something against gurmat and something he himself professed to be against, then those are your views. I don't know what the 'caste' of the people Bhai Sahib's children married are, and neither do I care. For me and I am sure virtually all others whatever the answer is makes no difference to the fact that Bhai Sahib waby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Actually, what I remembered reading was Bhai Sahib writing praise of Rangle Sajjan Jathedar Bhai Ram Singh Ji Gujerwal: "He would break the shackles of caste and get individuals of all castes Baptised without any reserve. He would encourage Sikh marriages, Anand Karaj, without consideration of caste. This was an outstanding service in the cause of faith. Thank you HS1NGH ji for sharing... I do have to disagree with one thing though, when you said that perhaps Bhai Sahib can be criticised for this - Bhai Sahib was married before he took Amrit so we can't criticise Bhai Sahib for anything like that. There is no doubt that a brahmgyani like Bhai Randhir Singh Ji did not have any belief or adherence to caste. Also, I cant find it now but I 100% rby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Very positive replies. Thank you veers. A few more theoretical questions: 1) What if a Gursikh believes firmly in never using surname - is it then right for others to question at time of marriage proposals what surname is, under pretext of checking that surnames are not the same? Is this right? Are we not all one family any way and shouldnt it be enough to just know that you are not bloodby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Bhai JaspeeetSingh jee, I thank there has been a misunderstanding, obviously Bhai Sahib was against caste, and so am I, in fact I detest it! I was hoping that if we share what Bhai Sahib said and what Gursikhs have to say, we can have good material for anti-caste parchaar. Let us rid the panth of caste!by MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
What has Bhai Sahib Bhai Randheer Singh Ji written/said about caste? Also, what have other Gurmukhs said about caste? Bhai Kulbir Singh Ji and others, please share your own vichaaran on caste, pinds, got, etc.by MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum

Gurfateh to all, My gursikh friend asked me a question and I wasn't sure what to say, he is interested in becoming an english teacher in secondary schools (not teaching english language) but is concerned whether this is within gurmat or not. It is an important subject as through it you learn essential writing skills, grammar, etc. However it also involves teaching various literature, poetry (by MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
What happens if the Gursikhs involved in Panj Pyare seva or even one out of them reveals to others what a Gursikh doing pesh has said? Isn't that wrong? I have heard from a couple of people that this is happening somewhere, in Jatha organised Amrit Sanchars...I was really upset when I heard this as you want to feel that should you ever have to go pesh you should feel that you are going to see yoby MaiKoNaRakhanda - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Fateh ji! daas is just wondering what the cyber sangat's view is as to why a sikh may not have alot of sangat? I don't mean about sangat in keertan and path etc. guru sahib is extremely merciful, however to have sangat to mix with, i.e. to keep a check on each other and encourage each other to follow Gursikhi.
