Before even considering Gurbani into the picture, there is a certain level of respect that any book that gives even regular knowledge should get. Such as not putting it on the floor, and not damaging the pages in it; whether it be a science book, history, or even literature. Without even considering the Gurbani aspect; this much amount of respect should be guaranteed. If knowledge is even throughby Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
With translations we should be careful, because throughout our history we have lost a lot of historical and direct literature either by outsiders taking and destroying the originals, or by our own doing. If anyone is going to be making a translation of Gurbani, it should be approved by Punj Pyare at the very least, especially since the fact that prachar is extremely limited as it is. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Considering the 2 Jathas Guru Sahib created himself are Taksal and Nihangs one might assume that they have the right Maryada, the problem is both of their modern Maryada are different from each other. So when someone goes to an Amrit Sanchar; first they should not follow any Maryada contradictory to Gurbani from Japji Sahib to Raagmala, from Dasam Grantby Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is Vaheguru's light, so when you do Ardas, you can ask him what you want to say. Meeting Vaheguru in Nirankar form, you don't ask or say much, unless Vaheguru makes you speak.by Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! That didn't seem to answer the question. When I originally got the question; an Atheist was discussing how Vaheguru could be good if bad stuff happens, so that's why I was asking the question? Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I wanted to know if everything is Vaheguru's Hukam then why are there so many problems in our Panth today? Also why we haven't resolved those many issues, ranging from 1984 to caste, to drugs and most of all the Deras that many "Sikhs" go to? I tried looking at Baal Updesh, and it seemed to hard for someone weak in Gurmukhi knowledge like myself. And when search "bhagat ji", on Google search I get either some Hindu king, or an Indian sweets company.by Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Bhai Randhir Singh was very well known even before Akhand Kirtani Jatha was formed, by people of any religion. This was because he was one of the biggest freedom fighters for Indian independence ever, from inspiring Bhagat Singh to Kartar Singh Sarbha. I don't know how close they were in real life, but in his own way, he did lots of Seva for the Panth as well.by Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji No Fateh! From my understanding on the history of this tradition, this started because in pre-Sikh days many people from the villages of Punjab would marry whoever was already in the village with no regards to anything other than religion and caste; (though caste eventually became negotiable during the era of Muslim invasions into Punjab to prevent Muslims and Hindus from marrying.) By the time the Sikh rby Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Guru Sahib is Vaheguru; 100% of the way. What Guru Sahib also is; is not someone who boasts about the body; (which he had), but rather the deeper meaning. Unlike idols worship from others; Guru Sahib strictly prohibited representation of him; saying that the body isn't the biggest, but light and jot.by Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
@Sevak, Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji came with the power to give Amrit, even before his prakash in 1469. Also after some time all the Bhagats started following Guru Sahib, and nor is logical to openly insult Bhagats, as they had all taken Amrit from the formless form of Guru Sahib. Also there is no line in Gurbani that says the Bhagats didn't take Amrit; especially since all throughout Gurbaniby Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
Personally, I don't believe non-Amritdharis can be mukt, not do I feel that an Amritdhari and Non-Amritdharis is equal, but something I noticed in Gurbani: "ਕਬੀਰ ਦਾਵੈ ਦਾਝਨੁ ਹੋਤੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਦਾਵੈ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਸੰਕ ॥ Kabīr ḏāvai ḏājẖan hoṯ hai nirḏāvai rahai nisank. I'm not exactly against meat completely, I hold the Taksali view on meat, and that's only in life-death situations. That said, usually most of the time hunters usually don't have the animals best interests at heart and there is a punishment for everything, and usually all things must go somewhere, (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji himself took the pain to save Makhan Shah Lubana.) I'm not currently married, but from the older Sikhs, a long engagement is not really encouraged because of problems like this. Forget the whole seeing everyone as brother and sister, mentally people are already seeing their fiancee as someone as a union. I'm not a medical professional, but usually Life support at times could be worse than death for those who did get it, because extending the life to an amount it doesn't need or want causes suffering and usually people who go through it will suffer for the remainder of their lives. People who go through these life extensions aren't truly happy, but are simply suffering. From a purely materialistby Jacfsing2 - Gurmat Discussion Forum
